Young Ed Posted March 23, 2008 Report Posted March 23, 2008 Got a lead on a pilot house in the twin cities area. Looks fairly solid says it doesnt run. Says its a 1950 B2V I think from the pictures the V should be a B. Quote
Dodgeb4ya Posted March 23, 2008 Report Posted March 23, 2008 If it was a "V" series it would have the Big 331ci. six and be a 3-1/2 tonner! Bob Quote
Young Ed Posted March 23, 2008 Author Report Posted March 23, 2008 This is for sure not that! Its a pickup Quote
Todd B Posted March 23, 2008 Report Posted March 23, 2008 I would be very interested if it is a V Quote
bigred48 Posted March 24, 2008 Report Posted March 24, 2008 Ed I saw something about a 50 b2b up for a charity auction in the star tribune today, is this what your talking about (id have no way of buying a truck but am always interested) Quote
Young Ed Posted March 24, 2008 Author Report Posted March 24, 2008 That would be the one. Auction goes til wed. Quote
bigred48 Posted March 24, 2008 Report Posted March 24, 2008 Heres a link to the site http://www.charitycarauctions.com/ looks like the bidding is pretty low right now. Quote
Young Ed Posted March 24, 2008 Author Report Posted March 24, 2008 I'm awefully tempted to buy the thing myself. I've got a running flathead in my garage at the moment. Trying to resist the urge though! And then my 40 plymouth pickup project still wouldn't have a motor. Quote
bigred48 Posted March 24, 2008 Report Posted March 24, 2008 so how many cars do you have? I think that one more truck couldn't hurt. what is one compared to the large number that you have accumulated. Quote
Young Ed Posted March 24, 2008 Author Report Posted March 24, 2008 Well my 2 main ones are the 46 pickup and the 48 plymouth club coupe. Then I have a 51 ply club coupe that needs major welding(NO floor) and enough pieces to build a 40 plymouth pickup. Quote
Phil Martin Posted March 24, 2008 Report Posted March 24, 2008 That truck looks like it my be pretty nice under the snow. Not a bad price yet. Quote

And then my 40 plymouth pickup project still wouldn't have a motor. That is a poor excuse its not that hard to find another motor There is always room for another old vehicle. I just rescued a 47 wc pulled it home Saturday and its no where near as nice as that truck in the auction Quote
Young Ed Posted March 25, 2008 Author Report Posted March 25, 2008 Now you are talking my language. Whats the deal with the 47? Parts or restore etc Quote
oldmopar Posted March 25, 2008 Report Posted March 25, 2008 The truck is bacially complete it came with the front fenders and running boards. It is missing most of the interior and driveshaft. Engine is out of a P23 turns by hand. For now I am pulling a few parts I needed for the WD21 electric wipers wd has vac wipers also has a spare tire holder (the one that goes under the truck). I do like this era of truck and for now I am will be holding this as another future project. Good thing I am retired Ed Quote
Young Ed Posted March 25, 2008 Author Report Posted March 25, 2008 Funny my truck has a p23 engine too. Here's another pile of the parts to become by 40 ply pickup. It will have a pilothouse engine. Only big parts missing are rear fenders. Even have a plymouth script tailgate. Quote
48Dodger Posted March 26, 2008 Report Posted March 26, 2008 I don't know what it is about old rusty trucks, but they just hit me like a beautiful blank canvas. If you stare at them long enough, you see the past and the future, blend with your imagination. I don't care if my trucks never get restored, refurbished, or coustimized. Long as they aren't ignored or crushed, I'll feel they have purpose. My intentions are my own, and I promise nothing to nobody when it comes to how and what I dream about my trucks. But what I can truly say, is that I love seeing the photos of what has been yank out of the bushes, rolled out of the barn, have the script "dodge" written across the hood, and saved for "someday". For me, that's what is great about this site. 48D Quote
Young Ed Posted March 26, 2008 Author Report Posted March 26, 2008 Does that apply to plymouths too Those 2 trucks are a 45 & 47 but are going to become a 40 plymouth. The 50 ply in that picture has already gone to the great car graveyard but the pieces will be saving dads 50 2dr and my 51 2dr. Quote
48Dodger Posted March 26, 2008 Report Posted March 26, 2008 Geez Ed, what was I thinking???? Here's the correction:D I don't know what it is about old rusty trucks, but they just hit me like a beautiful blank canvas. Young Ed Posted March 26, 2008 Author Report Posted March 26, 2008 Good good. Can't forget about the few years plymouth had trucks. Quote
oldmopar Posted March 26, 2008 Report Posted March 26, 2008 I don't know what it is about old rusty trucks, but they just hit me like a beautiful blank canvas. 48D I do not have one on canvas but my 46 WD21 made the 2008 PH calender most likely the closest to a canvas (unless its covering the truck) I will ever get Quote
48Dodger Posted March 28, 2008 Report Posted March 28, 2008 Hey that's pretty cool Oldmopar! Where can I get one? 48D Quote
oldmopar Posted March 28, 2008 Report Posted March 28, 2008 The calendars are made by a member Allan Faust here is a link to the Pilot-House calender and some other stuff http://dodgepilothouseclub.org/entertain/entertain.htm And he als made a P15-D24 calender Last item on the page http://www40.addr.com/~merc583/mopar/framesets/softwareframeset.html Ed Quote
Young Ed Posted March 28, 2008 Author Report Posted March 28, 2008 Well as has always been my opinion when watching the charity auction the truck sold for too much. 1226.00. Plus another couple hundred in fees someone probably paid 1500 bucks for that thing. Not worth that IMO. Quote

Since it is a charity auction if I bought the truck or any other vehicle from them can I take the purchase price as a deduction for my income taxes ? Quote
Young Ed Posted March 28, 2008 Author Report Posted March 28, 2008 I'm no tax expert but I think since you received goods for what you paid to the charity I don't think so. Unless maybe you could prove that you paid 1500 for a 500 item. Then maybe you could deduct the difference. Quote
