thedahmer Posted March 6, 2008 Report Posted March 6, 2008 After being a member here for a few years, I realized that this is one of the absolute best web forums around bar none. anticipating several more years to come with more and better evolution of the web 2.0-- I would like to take this moment and thank GTK and all of the other members who make this such a GREAT Forum. with all of the personalities that are in the mix, after the dust settles, whether it be over toys and scale models or toooo many jokes that are OT, we all still get along. If I am in any part of this Great USA or if I get the oportunity to go Down Under or over the pond, I would like to stop in and say hi to any forum member that is close. All in all I just wanted to thank everyone here for the info and the BS- with that, the Forum auctions are a nice touch I think it is good to help support the one that helps make this possible-keep up the great work! I will add that each and every one of the participants of this forum that I have met have been fine upstanding characters, who would give you the shirt of their backs if you asked. Quote

Guest rockabillybassman Posted March 7, 2008 Report Posted March 7, 2008 If you ever get down under, and pop over to New Zealand, you or any other forum members will always find a bed available at my place. Quote
Frank Blackstone Posted March 7, 2008 Report Posted March 7, 2008 I believe Pat S was referring to the thread that is connected to the link in his post. I posted my thanks to GTK there. Quote
Normspeed Posted March 7, 2008 Report Posted March 7, 2008 Hey Greg, I'm alittle shady, but the rest of the bunch are good people... Thanks to the GTK Nah, we're ok and GTK is the best, but that Coatney guy, I think he's a moonshiner. Quote
Young Ed Posted March 7, 2008 Report Posted March 7, 2008 My namesake used to make a few batches here and there. I believe he snuck some of the ingredients down from Canada. Quote
Fireball Posted March 7, 2008 Report Posted March 7, 2008 Please forgive me my ignorance, lets blame my limited language, but what-who is GTK? Anyhow I totally agree, this forum has great and unique spirit! Quote
Normspeed Posted March 7, 2008 Report Posted March 7, 2008 GTK is the gentleman that created this forum. you'll see his full name at the bottom of the page in the copyright notice. Seems like he has found just the right combination of factors to come up with a near-perfect forum. Quote
Fireball Posted March 7, 2008 Report Posted March 7, 2008 Thanks Normspeed, so I learnt something new today again. Quote
Joe Flanagan Posted March 8, 2008 Report Posted March 8, 2008 Don, It's funny how with all the pictures of the inside of your garage that you've posted, we never saw the still that you have in there. Someone as handy as you has probably got quite an operation going. Quote
Normspeed Posted March 8, 2008 Report Posted March 8, 2008 I think that's just his parts cleaner and mason jar/funnel collection. I wonder how many of those gentlemen are packing heat. Quote
Don Coatney Posted March 8, 2008 Report Posted March 8, 2008 I wonder how many of those gentlemen are packing heat. Comes natural to me. That is my grandmother Hatti Coatney on the left. Quote
Normspeed Posted March 8, 2008 Report Posted March 8, 2008 Great photo. If I were the gal to the right, I'd be scooting back a couple feet. Quote
Niel Hoback Posted March 8, 2008 Report Posted March 8, 2008 The gal on the right is a hostage? Quote
Don Jordan Posted March 9, 2008 Report Posted March 9, 2008 When I was a kid in high school we would go skiing up by Lake Tahoe. I was always amazed at how friendly the people on the slope were. Tough hood bikers, Demo, Republicans, Catholic, Jews, didn't matter because at that moment, at that time, at that place we all had something in common - skiing. These were the same people that if you saw on the street you wouldn't give them the time of day. It drives my wife crazy when I see an old car in a driveway I'll go knock on the door to talk to the guy. Many times who ever (that should be whom) answers the door is gruff and surly "What do you want?" "I just wanted to compliment you on your car." The guy puts his arm around my shoulder like we've been pals for years and ushers me to the garage. That's what this forum is like to me. Probably on the whole a lot of us don't share much in common. The common threat is most of you guys are nuts. Throwing money into a car that is almost as old as me. That's silly. But, by God, we all do it and can appreciate each other's pain - cause we've either been there or will be there. Kudos to GTK for managing to herd cats down the straight and narrow. Quote
Niel Hoback Posted March 9, 2008 Report Posted March 9, 2008 "The common thread is most of you guys are nuts. " Everybody is nuts to some degree, we have just refined it. Besides, it makes life so much easier. Quote
