Reg Evans Posted November 29, 2006 Report Posted November 29, 2006 They came with a 47 Dodge parts truck that bought for the good lookin and runnin D24 engine under the hood. I'm not a purest or a rodder so I don't have much experience with fancy wheels. All 4 are in good shape but could use a little buffing. What do y'all think? Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted November 29, 2006 Report Posted November 29, 2006 I think they are from a Ford Ranger pickup..could be wrong but they sure look like the one my friend put on his car trailer...they sure increased the value of his trailer..he has since gotten a decent hauler... Quote
Reg Evans Posted November 29, 2006 Author Report Posted November 29, 2006 Forgot to say they are 10" wide. Did the Ranger come with that wide of a rim? Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted November 29, 2006 Report Posted November 29, 2006 They look like aftermarket items to me, but am no real expert. I don't care much for that style, personally. But they should be worth - something, to someone. I know a fellow in a neighboring town....he's retired now....and he created this little business at his home. Began with selling used hubcaps, now has expanded to wheels and tires. He still has a small building full of older used wheel covers, so if anyone needs something let me know and I can go shopping with an exact description in hand. Best I can tell, he tends to be reasonable on prices. The only thing I have gotten from him lately was some narrow trim rings, which he gave me at no charge. (They weren't selling anyway.) I got lucky and there was actually a matched set among the several he handed me. Quote
Reg Evans Posted November 29, 2006 Author Report Posted November 29, 2006 Hey...sure enough Tim. What a fart smeller.....i mean smart feller. I looked on eBay and there they were. Listed for Dodge and Jeep too. The only difference is these are 10" wide with about a 3.5" backspace. Were these what came on these vehicles from the factory or were they after market like Bob suggested? Dadgummit....they aren't worth much even new. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/15-inch-Wheels-Rims-Jeep-Wrangler-Ford-Ranger-Five-lug_W0QQitemZ260057436075QQihZ016QQcategoryZ43955QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted November 29, 2006 Report Posted November 29, 2006 Reg..my bud had the Ranger..it was one of the more fancy with the step side..did they call it a Splash or something like that? Anyway the wheels that you pictured looks identical to ones that come stock on his truck..did not know the backset or width..just the pattern looked familar. That wheel is not what I think should be on one of the older cars..they do look at home on a truck though..Jeep canyon wheels are a nice rim for use on a rodded looking older car and will more than not be on my 51 'burb wagon... greg g Posted November 29, 2006 Report Posted November 29, 2006 Take a close look. I have a similar set that are aftermarket made in China stuff. Probably 60 or 70 bucks each when new. 10 inch wide seems a bit wide for OEM. Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted November 29, 2006 Report Posted November 29, 2006 I think they were more of an aftermarket wheels also as these were custom type jobs similar to the way most of the conversion vans were done by various companies..best thing to do is chain them to a tree with a for sale sign on them..some punkus-derelictus will buy them... Young Ed Posted November 29, 2006 Report Posted November 29, 2006 Reg I know American racing sold wheels that looked like that. I was going to buy a set for my dakota. Quote
Normspeed Posted December 1, 2006 Report Posted December 1, 2006 As a 59 year old punkus derelictus, I take offensus at thatus. I thinkus. The wheels look like Alcoa type knockoffs. They would look great on a low-boy tandem trailer for a ski boat. Tim;The postings you have made today appear to be from an older and more mature person. Quote
