I spent some quality time on the phone with George today. Among the MANY topics we covered was intake manifolds for big block 25" flatheads. He asked me to pass the word that he is reproducing aluminum triple carb intakes for the 238, 251 and 265 engines. Cost is $500 each direct from George. If you buy one tell him Charlie sent you, I love working with a Master! You can email me directly for his phone number.

hey oldaddy!, do you know if this intakes are complete with linkage (minus carbs of course) and are they finned? PM me the phone number please either way... thnks Mack G.:)

Boy! I'd like to have one of those for my 230...

I'll bet you haven't been for a ride in a 230 with a dual carb Carter-Weber setup yet! Three would be overkill!

The $500 price is for intake only, linkage is $85 extra. I don't post numbers on the internet for privacy reasons, because the person who has the number asked me not to.....................

Would A & K Racing be Ache and Kingsbury?

Pete

Pete, I'm pretty sure Don is right too. A few years ago I had a real nice extra Fulton Sunvisor I picked up and put up for sale. Kingsbury bought and paid for it and had me ship it to George. So, the two are connected somehow, even though Kingsbury is in Canada.

George Asche and Tim Kingsbury do some business together. I have never discussed this business with George Asche nor have I ever met Tim Kingsbury. Others on this forum have had some bad dealings with Tim Kingsbury. And others on this forum have had some bad dealings with George Asche. As in any other venture buyer and seller beware.

Don,

Like you mentioned, sometimes people are not happy with a deal they may have had with someone for their own reasons. I know the sale I made to Tim Kingsbury was just after someone else was complaining about him. However, the deal on that sunvisor I mentioned went smooth as silk. That was my only dealings with Tim. As for George, can't say anything because I've never had a dealings with him.

It's the same when buying off someone on ebay. Even if they have a few negatives on their card, doesn't mean I won't buy from them. I just check the actual replies on those negatives and also the rest of his feedback. I then go to the buyers card and check his. Most of the time it turns out to be a simple misunderstanding between them, so I go ahead and buy whatever the seller is selling anyway.

In reference to George Asche, I have purchased hard parts like linkage from him and been happy with them.

However, I don't think I would purchase complicated rebuilt parts like transmissions again from him. My experience is not good.

With the $1700 I paid George, the $500 in NOS replacement parts I have had to get, the $200 in internal parts on order for the inside, the $200 in phone calls, and the projected labor of $600 to R & R the unit fast at a shop to fix what he did not catch when he rebuilt it...

...I will have a $3200 transmission with OD. Just about year after I ordered it.

The year of frustration has not cost me anything in cash.

If anyone would like to discuss the details, send me an email and I will drop you my phone number.

No, I haven't yet experienced my 230 motor. It'll be punched out , probably60 over with cast iron headers and a little higher compression. I thought three stock Carters would be about right. I've never heard of a 'Carter-Weber' carb. Is this a two-throat?

Jim, is your 230 the regular short block 230 like the Dodge and later Plymouths? I think that triple is for the big block Chrysler types.

With multi carbs on a street flathead 6, you sorta need to decide where you want to go...the traditional like Ball & Ball (stock type) carbs or the newer stuff like Webers. Personally I run the B&B carbs on my 218 but some day I hope to see what Pete (Blueskies) 230 is like with the Holley Webers. Pete has a great website about his build, including those cool carbs:

Must be time for a road trip to Idaho! Hop in that wagon, hitch up the tear, and motor on over...

I think it would be great to put together a P15-D24 Bonneville Speed Week gathering this year. Put it on your calendar, August 18-24...

Your tear-drop would be the perfect "lodging" at the bend in the road.

If James Curl can make it to speed week from Texas and back with a busted motor in his P15, it should be easy for the rest of the gang!

My carbs are the "Holley-Weber" version, slightly different from the "Carter-Weber" carbs. Both types are small two barrel carbs, the primaries are smaller than the Ball and Ball carbs.

Here's what mine look like-

Mine came with water heated chokes, but I'm not using them. Not running chokes at all, in fact. With the water heated Edmunds dual intake, the engine is warmed up and running smooth by the time I get it backed out of my garage, even when the temps are near zero degrees.

These are the adapters that mate the carbs to the intake-

Very happy with

. Pulls strong,
,
uphill. Gets about 19mpg on the highway, less around town.

I think Don Coatney has a couple of the Carter-Weber carbs to put on his rig, maybe he can post a pic of what they look like...

Pete, Bonneville is definitely on my "to do" list but will probably have to wait until August 2010 after I'm retired. I do plan on a very long, liesurely road trip in 2010, starting in NM, traveling to south Florida, then heading north and west to hopefully meet some of the forum members. The plan is to drive infrequently, with camping and fishing stops all along the way. The rig will be in full vacation configuration:D

At my place, stay for free if you don't mind sleeping on the couch or the floor or in the teardrop. Food, anything more complex than grilled food, it's time to head for a restaurant.

Here are the Carter-Webber carburetors I will install someday. Also pictured is the bottom for a comparsion with the B&B's.

Don-

Do you have a pic of the throat on your carbs? It's different than the diamond shaped throad on mine if I remember right...

Pete;

Not sure what you are looking for. Let me know and I will shoot some pictures.
