Has anyone seen this feature at the thermostat port? I’ve been running the truck forever without a thermostat which hasn’t been a problem with temperatures in San Diego, but I’d like to get it right. It doesn’t appear to be welded on, but it isn’t budging either. It prevents me from using DMC housing gasket and thermostat. IMG_0682-compressed.jpeg.cf7f0161654a73648955aacbdc3a99c6.jpeg

Ya might need to knock it with a cold chisel horizontally to collapse that brass remnant to get it to break free of the cast iron...if it doesn't pop out, grasp with vice grips to peel it off.

Thanks guys. I just wanted to make certain that it didn’t serve some useful purpose that I was unaware of before I got more aggressive in removing it. My guess is that it was an adapter for a non stock thermostat and is probably attached with JB Weld or similar.

It's the bottom piece of the readily available thermostat that the auto stores sell. A conventional thermostat goes into that piece and then a rubber gasket on top. Commence with knocking it out of place and replacing
