oldodge41
This car is owned by the original owner. It is driven a lot in the summer months. I first saw this car in about 1976 and I have been watching it ever since. The car usually gets covered with a tarp beside the house for the winter months and then sits right where it got crushed throughout the summer months. A true survivor. I drove past the other day, as I do several times a week and saw the aftermath of what happened that morning. When I got home I saw the pictures on Facebook. It made me very sad. I hope they fix it, won't be the same I suppose, but it is just too cool to let go. More pictures and story here https://www.facebook.com/mike.hawn.5 the pics posted are from this post as well. Veemoney
Tragedy, just hope he had insurance to cover some of that loss. Well worth saving. They make plenty of parts for restoring that body style. I had a large ash tree the emerald ash borers took over in the far corner of my property. No danger to the house or anything other than me when I mow the grass. I was able to get the electric company to take it down and haul it away since some power lines were nearby. I still get to look at the big stump though. plymouthcranbrook
That is sad news. It looks like a dead tree from what I can see. Did you have a bad storm that took it down? Or maybe a tree that should have been removed but the homeowner thought maybe next year?
John-T-53
Yeah, look at that tree which was obviously dead for a long time before it fell. The bark had fallen off and the trunk was rotted. Why was it left standing and didn't the car's owner notice or take heed as to where he was parking? This could have easily been avoided. It's interesting that the tree managed to pop out the windshield then land on it vertically without crushing it! I'm not an E-body guy but still sad to see another Mopar bite the dust.
oldodge41
The article said it's been dead for some time. It was topped out but the main trunk was left standing. Hindsight says it should have been completely removed when it was topped out. If it had fell the other direction it would have been on the house. It actually fell across the street to hit the car.
