We agree 100% here. Same time we choose which side of the street we walk on .... as much as I appreciate having a vendor for our projects. I prefer to walk on the other side and do without their help .... we did fine before they showed up, we can survive without them. We have sufficient people in the field to tell us what we want ..... we all got by before moparpro. Tim Glad to meet you, I'm Fred and we will never agree on this. moparpro has proven themselves to be the true pieces of crap on the market while they are just trying to get started .... wait til they get a solid foothold in the community .... You just wait and lets hear you stand up and protect them then @Plymouthy Adams when you prove me wrong, I will eat my words and maybe a hat ..... I just wont walk on the same side of the street with moparpro Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted August 2 Report Posted August 2 not out to prove anyone wrong any more than I want you to eat your hat, in this weather you going to need that for protection....and as you express you will not deal with moparpro bothers me none in the least....and totally your call. I gain or lose nothing in that equation But at the same token....seems when you get down to the brass tacks, every time someone does a brake job on these cars with OTC parts there are horror stories out the yang...we talking buying so call respectable brand names here also. Wagner, Raybestos for two, yet the failure rates seem very high and why...the source of the part being made...not the seller, Advance, Napa, Oreilly Autozone etc etc. and lets just for grins throw in the fuel pump...I will stop there as we all know the current world part situation. I know a guy that recently bought 3 single pot MC for his ride ..... all leaked out of the rear seal except 1 that a empty box showed up. Are you saying that moparpro has new sources? ...... just saying that the last 2 sources were name brand and junk on arrival .... Are you saying Tim that the moparpro team will fix all this? I just see no excuse for their behavior unless they actually produce high quality parts and deliver them. I have yet seen the appraisal of moparpro and the quality work they have put out. @Plymouthy AdamsYou continue this conversation if you want ..... I spoke my piece and have no desire to reply back again on this thread. Quote
keithb7 Posted August 2 Report Posted August 2 Enjoying the conversations. Getting back to steering gears. My research tells me that somewhat unique machines and skill set are required to make worm gears. The old tooling is maybe gone from America. Someone in Argentina acquired the tooling and will build and sell you the proper worm gear and related parts. Buenos Aries. Mopar never made all their own steering gears. Gemmer made many of them for Mopars for many years. They also made them for Ford and other companies. I used my Vintage Hollander Exchange book, and my Motors Manual to find a match for my ‘38 Plymouth. It was from a same era Ford. Ford aftermarket parts is huge industry compared to Mopar. I found a matching Ford set, also made by Gemmer. I went from staring down a potential shot gun in Argentina, to a $80 solution in the USA. The parts fixed up my gear box nicely. You can read more about my experience and the details here: 1 Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted August 2 Report Posted August 2 (edited) no I am not saying any of the above nor making excuses for any of the above...just stating regardless of the part seller...it seems the source of the part is what it is all boiling down to. I will admit to stating that moparpro has tried to bring some new blood into the arena but sadly we all know the source of the blood. I am hoping he has done and continues to do battle with the quality and due to limited marketing he has compared to the many OTC outlet stores may have done more than they combined. I just don't know....The big box store will refund your money but you still out the time and trouble and loss of supplies like brake fluid shop towels and the sort for a failed job. Just saying he is not the only guy in the picture and should not be the only guy that gets shot at.......you have your horror stories with him where I have had successful dealing and on the other hand my horror story is the with one vendor many hold in high esteem. This venue is the place for airing this but often frowned upon and thus best to let it be said, tread carefully, do your own research and buy prudently. I know it sounds as though I am defending him and in truth it is just that I am not stating the lies and bad parts I have received from other sellers. Edited August 2 by Plymouthy Adams Quote

Warsaw told me his were NOS and $300, and the only option because of the one-wire setup. Thankfully, I found this forum. Last year I found two NOS coils, in their boxes. I listed them on Facebook marketplace for sale. Warsaw (forgetting that he tried to screw me a year earlier), contacted me and offered me $40 for *both* telling me "those NOS coils are likely not usable anyway". Oh, and then he threatened to file a lawsuit against me when I told him I am happy to spread the word about his business ethics. You just gave me an idea for my next YT Video! “How to replace your 6V vintage Mopar single wire coil for $20”. Let’s see if we can’t spare a few more souls from the scenario you went through. Quote

9 foot box Posted August 3 Report Posted August 3 I replied to echodan about his coil, no reply. If you have the separate 643819 bracket, I agree that it is an easy fix. Guess who has the best price for the bracket. Good going, bacelaw. 1 Quote

Possibly adjusting shims as well if needed? That was my first thing to check. Unfortunately it made no difference. Edited August 3 by hotrodbob spelling Quote
