kencombs Posted December 14, 2021 Report Posted December 14, 2021 While working on my 56 I've discovered that it is made in such a way that either RHD or LHD configurations can be installed. For instance, Clutch and Brake pedals as well as master cylinder can be mounted on either side as the mounting bracket is there on both. Also there are pre-punched knockouts for steering and heater in the firewall and dimmer switch on both side. Then the dash itself has the instrument cutouts on both sides with the shape on the RH side concealed by the perforated insert. With the stock glove box in the center, you can just put the same cluster on either side. Were that all built this way or only part of the production? It sure would make completion to RHD world specs easier, but seems to be costly if they did it to all of them. Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted December 14, 2021 Report Posted December 14, 2021 well, a pressing does not a hole make.....think Fargo here.... Quote
Young Ed Posted December 14, 2021 Report Posted December 14, 2021 The 39-47s are the same. The frame is setup for mounting the steering on the right and the cab has duplicate areas. For us the dash would be different with the instruments and glove box swapping Quote

These are not just pressings but a nearly severed die cut. Just a little work with a hammer and chisel on the uncut areas and there would be a hole! since I’m using hanging pedals from a 60 model as well as a later GM Tilt and collapsible column, I’ve spent some time welding patches into the clutch, brake, starter and dimmer holes. I have many cars here that can go either left or right hand drive. Some are fully punched with cover plates that will cover the side not being utilized.....others are as pointed out...almost there.....welding up holes, nothing wrong with that Quote
JBNeal Posted December 15, 2021 Report Posted December 15, 2021 C-series, B-series, W-series, all set up for LHD or RHD with a little work to make either happen...and if ya know where to look, B- and C-series have knockouts for the bigger trucks. Quote
