Here is a snip of text from Shop Manual from 1940 And ethylene glycol is one of the antifreezes mentioned in the owners Instruction Book for my 1933 Plymouth. So its use started sometime in or before the early 1930s. Quote
Sniper Posted October 9, 2021 Report Posted October 9, 2021 (edited) Point is the factory recommended it back then, you use it? BTW, you'd have to go father back, almost 80 years to find a time when ethylene glycol was "new". 1859 to be exact. So no I don't think it is new tech. It's proven tech that is used in modern vehicles because most other options fail. Edited October 9, 2021 by Sniper Quote
Young Ed Posted October 9, 2021 Report Posted October 9, 2021 I would think if you really want to be modern you'd be using dexcool or one of the other modern coolants. No thanks for me 1 Quote
Sniper Posted October 9, 2021 Report Posted October 9, 2021 (edited) If you ran Dexcool you'd need a sealed cooling system, air in the Dexcool system tends to gel it up as I understand. As with any technology you have to understand the pros and cons and make your decision. Edited October 9, 2021 by Sniper Quote
