What is the part on the parallel line?  Wonder if this would be easier than running a return line to the tank?

Even easier than running a return line is not having a return line............. ?

Start with the simplest installation, add complexity (and failure points) only if proven to be needed.

I am using the Carter 6v pos ground fuel pump, no regulator, manual pump delete, 3500 miles this past summer, no issues. I installed a switch to shut the pump off prior to shutting of engine to drain carb., also installed a Ford inertia switch in the trunk in case of collision.

Did you make your own plate to cover the fuel pump opening?  I have seen manufactured plates for that purpose on line but I can't remember who sold them.

If someone slammed the hood or trunk or door of a car hard enough, could it set off that inertia switch?

The block-off plate is just a, uh, plate. I made mine from a piece of scrap sheet stock in the junk box. Use the mechanical pump as a pattern to make the plate.

Slamming a door isn't enough shock to trip the inertia switch. I have to hit the firewall next to the switch hard with a heavy object to get it to trip. I've had no false trips with mine.

Ebay has them for $37.  If you don't have a grinder, that's an option, but it's overpriced. $25 would be reasonable.

My P15 has no momentary switches, bypass lines, pressure regulators or gauges, or antique mechanical pump leaks. The fuel system is one place where additional complexity is not a good thing. ?

Sam, you devil. I know you've been avoiding towns and only cruising on the interstate for the last 2 years.  ? ?

but for the cost of the plate and shipping, one can buy a grinder and make his own for the same cost and NOW you have the tool for other shop uses down the road.....kinda like why buy the fish, when you can get a fishing pole for the same money.

well, buy what you need,  I was pointing out that in cases where you need an item and can make it yourself, it is often more prudent to spend the money on the means to an end and not just a single end item.  This makes you enabled and capable in the long run for things that WILL need attention in the future.
