pflaming Posted July 2, 2020 Report Posted July 2, 2020 I find it interesting how closely how closely The grills and auto body designs are so similar going back decades. My 53 Plymouth has the “teeth” so does the ‘53 chevrolet, etc. I can recall few break out of the box designs. I think the 49 Ford was one, the 56 Pontiac “Wide track”, American Motors unibody, and curved side windows, More recently the Mack Truck Dodge grills to name a few. What others occurred? Quote
casper50 Posted July 2, 2020 Report Posted July 2, 2020 For unique you can't beat a 50 Studebaker. Quote
Dodgeed Posted July 5, 2020 Report Posted July 5, 2020 Tail fins in the mid and late 50's. They were all gone by the beginning of the '60's. Starting in '58, everyone had to have quad headlights too, to be "cool". Quote
linus6948 Posted July 5, 2020 Report Posted July 5, 2020 Amazing how that "horse-Collar" grill that also was referenced as part of the female anatomy just destroyed the sales of what was actually an "ahead of it`s times" car. It became synonymous with being a loser and Don Knots used a droptop Edsel as his ride in both The Andy Griffin Show and movie The Ghost and Mr. Chicken. Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted July 5, 2020 Report Posted July 5, 2020 this is part and maybe the forefront of the UGLY IN MOTION era.... Quote
plymjim Posted August 1, 2020 Report Posted August 1, 2020 How about a Chrysler Airflow or a '48 Tucker for breakout designs? Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted August 1, 2020 Report Posted August 1, 2020 Tucker was worse than GM for copying everyone else...his car is just an hodgepodge of these parts, styles and appointments.....glad these ugly things are rarely ever seen. Quote
