Somethingski Posted December 31, 2019 Report Posted December 31, 2019 (edited) Hi all, Second time trying to post on this forum so here goes. Im trying to id the dodge that is attached in the photos. I have tried countless hours on google images but with no luck. The hardest part (for me) is the single grill, most i can find have three. Hoping someone here can identify the model and or year. I cant access the truck in the near future but have taken more photos. I was reluctant to open the hood and search for any plaques (i figured id be able to find it on google). Hopingn some one can narrow my search down to a year or give me links to where i can find more information. Thanks so much Edit - Truck is located in Australia Edited December 31, 2019 by Somethingski Added Truck in Australia
Dodgeb4ya Posted December 31, 2019 Report Posted December 31, 2019 Looks like an export Dodge truck.. Who knows what year...I don't.
Somethingski Posted December 31, 2019 Author Report Posted December 31, 2019 Thanks, sorry i should have added Truck is in Australia. Thanks for replying
Andydodge Posted December 31, 2019 Report Posted December 31, 2019 (edited) Where is the car located...........that helps..........I'm no truck expert but I think its 1952-1955 Oz .............I've checked both the McPherson Dodge Story and Gavin Farmers Great Ideas in Motion books as well as various Oz car manuals and can't find any pics showing that front, but thats not surprising......Oz Chrysler used the Pilothouse truck cab from 1949/50 thru to the late 50's with a number of Oz only front end styling designs in both Dodge and Fargo truck lines..........have you posted these pics on the Pilothouse side of this forum?..............andyd Edited December 31, 2019 by Andydodge
tom'sB2B Posted December 31, 2019 Report Posted December 31, 2019 This Ute looks similar minus the second bar Either way cool truck!
Somethingski Posted December 31, 2019 Author Report Posted December 31, 2019 Thanks for the replies. Truck is located in Sydney, Australia. I can find this photo that is similar (this one has indicators) but not exactly the same. Advertised as 1953 so your edcuated guess seems right on. (http://automotoclassicsale.com/node/30291). Ive also found this image saying a 1954 but literally have no furthur information (the link doesnt work as it was a gumtree (like craiglist) ad. Ill try and post on the pilothouse side of the forum once i work out what that is (sorry!). Its the single bar thats got me stumped. I searched the pdfs of the oz brochures but again nothing with the single bar. Thanks again
Somethingski Posted December 31, 2019 Author Report Posted December 31, 2019 Here are the final two photos that i have been able to find showing the single bar. Both indicate 1954 model - so 53 or 54 is my best educated guess. I guess the next step is to look for manuals on this particular year. Andydodge, where is the pilot house side of the forum? i tried looking but with no luck. Thanks again for looking at this post, just tyring to get as much information as possible
Somethingski Posted December 31, 2019 Author Report Posted December 31, 2019 Hi, I think ive found the other foru, and have posted there. Thanks
Tony WestOZ Posted December 31, 2019 Report Posted December 31, 2019 That is an Australian 1958-59 Dodge. Hard to say what model without seeing the rest of the truck or the tags that will be on the firewall inside the engine bay. Probably on the right hand side (passengers side) looking from the front of the truck. Will have 250 cu" flathead. Peddles will be hangers with the master cylinders on the firewall instead of through the floor seen on earlier Australian and US models. Follow the link for a brief history on Australian trucks. http://dodgepilothouseclub.org/garage/garage.htm This link is to a brochure of that model. http://dodgepilothouseclub.org/garage/5859Dodge/index.html Tony
Tony WestOZ Posted December 31, 2019 Report Posted December 31, 2019 Hang on I just had a second look at your pics and something is not right. The bonnet having the chrome bar is earlier than 58, yet the single bar grill is 58. The tag info would be handy. This might be an late 57 early 58 cross-over or the truck was in an accident requiring a grill change. Interesting. \Tony
Somethingski Posted December 31, 2019 Author Report Posted December 31, 2019 Thanks so much, i didnt look that late (58-59) but the brochure helps! I was hesitant to get under the hood to the tag, wasnt much room to move around. Here are another 2 pictures showing the front, it was a "tray back" as opposed to a ute if that helps. Thanks again for the information.
Somethingski Posted December 31, 2019 Author Report Posted December 31, 2019 Could someone please close this post, i have reposted in the "truck" forum. Thanks so much for everyones help
