Worden18 Posted August 7, 2018 Report Posted August 7, 2018 (edited) It’s not likely a problem with your fluid drive. Sounds to me like your clutch is not disengaging. Check that first! Edited August 7, 2018 by Worden18 Quote
casper50 Posted August 7, 2018 Report Posted August 7, 2018 fluid drive is basicly a container with two non connecting fan blades inside with the blades surround by fluid. As Worden says not likely to be the fluid drive. Quote
Mike36 Posted August 7, 2018 Report Posted August 7, 2018 If not the clutch, synchronizers in the transmission may be worn out. 1 Quote
Dodgeb4ya Posted August 7, 2018 Report Posted August 7, 2018 If it only grinds going into reverse ( there are no syncro's on reverse gear) ....and never any grinding going into low/ or high range while the engine running ....it's a clutch problem.. Quote
greg g Posted August 7, 2018 Report Posted August 7, 2018 OK the standard question. What transmission does your car have? Quote
garbagestate 44 Posted August 7, 2018 Report Posted August 7, 2018 If it's a 49 with the original trans, It's probably an m-6, 5 minutes ago, greg g said: OK the standard question. What transmission does your car have? Quote
greg g Posted August 7, 2018 Report Posted August 7, 2018 Being a Windsor, base model, wasn't the m6 an option? If m6 couldn't be as simple as a too high idle speed? Quote
plymouthcranbrook Posted August 7, 2018 Report Posted August 7, 2018 These guys are in Fox Lake, IL and I have had good service from them. I don't know if they do transmission work but could probably steer you in the correct path. http://www.jerrysautocare.net/ You could also contact the folks at Volo Auto Museum as they were the ones who connected me with Jerry's. https://www.volocars.com/ Quote
