I am hoping you can help us, we are trying to find out what the registration is on a dodge truck, but not having much luck! Bought truck about 5yrs ago, then unfortunately had a fire where it was stored, losing all paperwork to it, (truck ok)including photos which were stored on laptop!! The only thing we have are the engine number which is T118g31865c.Also on the chassis of flatbed is 61C/2077 and from memory reg started with XOX. We know it came from Kew. Any help appreciated.          Many thanks Meichele

Sorry but I doubt very much if you will be able to trace the registration.  Can you contact the previous owner?  If you're lucky they might still have something or know who it was registered to.  Good luck.

Hi thanks, no we paid cash and had it collected from the mainland, tried the person who collected it, but it was so long ago he can't remember anything other than Lincoln!

Did you register it in your name when you received it?  If not, you will have to throw yourself on the mercy of some official clerk at the registration office and see if they can help you somehow.

This is what we are trying to do, but they need as much verification as possible, so basically trying all angles. Would like to restore it to as original as possible.

But no other half didn't register it, and now is kicking himself.

You're not kicking him also?  lol   I lived in Scotland for 3 years and England for 6.  I'm pretty sure it will tough.  What about when you imported it any paperwork?

Ahh! You can't kick a man when he is down, (wait till they are asleep lol )  it's not imported, was from Kew, but all paperwork lost in fire including number plates.

Was hoping there was some site that could cross reference it or at least authenticate it

if you cannot recall the original owners name and contact him I am not sure what your options are over there....I would suggest a personal appearance before your licensing division head, explain your predicament and ask him for assistance and guidance toward registration... am sure not many here stateside would be able to quote your hometown rules.

Here we have a process through the DMV where you can claim it as an abandoned vehicle.  For example you bought a piece of property with an old building on it and found an old vehicle in it.  You fill out cab affidavit that states that as far as you know there is no one that still has a claim on the vehicle, then you post legal notices in a couple of regional newspapers seeking any one who might have a claim to please come forward if they still have an interest.  Meanwhile the DMV has a form for a police officer to come and witness and verify the engine number and serial number, and attest they are as described.  The registration authority will then issue a provisional set of documents in your name.  After three months or so they will then issue permanent forms if no one responds to the legal notices.   Perhaps the RAC might be of assistance or an attorney may be able to get a process started.

Meichele......am curious...you mention that it is from "Kew"...........the yanks probably don't understand what you mean by this term....here in Oz, Australia, the Kew term is a generic term used(incorrectly) to refer to most side valve mopar six engines but in reality should be used only when referring to the 25" engines that came here from Canada via the ordering system that involved the UK Mopar plant in Kew..........the engine number on these 25" engines all had the letters KEW stamped into the block just before the actual engine number..........does your trucks engine also have this feature?............and is it the 23" or 25" engine............regards, andyd

Chrysler had an assembly plant in Kew starting at least in the early 1930s and quite a few cars and trucks were assembled/built there. Since the original poster indicates they are located in the British Isles, it seems that the vehicle originated there and was not imported (even if most of the pieces were imported from North America).

In the early 1930s the vehicles were shipped from North America "completely knocked down" with all the bits and pieces needed except interiors which locally sourced and fitted. Also locally sourced and fitted were things standard or required in the UK that were not used in the US like front fender/wing mounted parking lights.

For 1933, the Chrysler Kew 6 (know in the US as a Plymouth) came with a small bore version of the US engine. It would not surprise me if they used the 25" Canadian engines once the Windsor plant for building them came on line as there seemed to be a import/tax savings on "Empire Built" items. I don't know if they eventually had their own foundry and manufactured their engines from scratch but it seems unlikely.
