I have an old looking set of tail lights that came on the truck, but I also have an exploded view of the tail light that looks different. Just wondering which is oe? It is a 52 b3d

Driver side standard, passenger side optional...the originals are not very bright, upgrading to something that might look era-appropriate may get the uninsured motorists attention long enough to keep them from plowing into ya

I don't think that light shown is a  factory style 1952 tail light.

The original should have "DODGE" in white letters embossed into the glass lens and the lens has indentations on each side for the retaining ring screws.

The Glass lens is almost flat.

The correct style housing and lens (as shown in the diagram) are available as repops from Roberts and others. It is true that they are not particularly bright and mount low. You can augment this easy enough with additional lighting as you see fit. I even added a 6 volt brake light at the bottom of my rear window in a nod for increased safety.

yes this.  the original glass has a hex pattern in it and a hemispherical bump as well.  Don't know if the repops do....I'll send you a PM about options.
