JPP Posted July 5, 2016 Report Posted July 5, 2016 When I crank over my 1950 B2B, 218, T142, the speedometer needle goes from zero to 70 and then falls back to zero. What am I missing here? Thanks Quote

NiftyFifty Posted July 5, 2016 Report Posted July 5, 2016 Plymouth got it.....but on a serious note...that's darn near impossible with the stock gauge, as there isn't even power too that gauge until the dash switch is pulled, and being mechanical, it should be able to move without the speedo gear moving in the trans. Only thing I can think of is if you have a aftermarket radio or speaker near by that is magnetizing the gauge on start and pulling the needle up....all I can think of Quote
John-T-53 Posted July 5, 2016 Report Posted July 5, 2016 The cable, and needle shouldn't be moving if the truck is stationary. Sometimes at very low speeds, the needle in mine jumps around as the magnets pull the mechanism up before the spring retracts the needle. Are you back wheels off the ground and the truck in gear while cranking? Quote
B1B Keven Posted July 6, 2016 Report Posted July 6, 2016 Do you have a stock or aftermarket speedometer? The stock speedo is cable driven and can only be moved by the transmission. Quote
greg g Posted July 6, 2016 Report Posted July 6, 2016 As long as its not adding miles to the odo, what's the big concern? Quote
