It's been a while since i posted anything but have a quick question:

My oil line going to my oil pressure gauge is showing its age. Not sure i want to trust it anymore and was wondering where some of you have bought your replacement?

I've searched the forums and also looked online at andy's and roberts.

Any suggestions?

I found that most of my (9) trucks have been fitted with a flex line... but we might have done things differently here in Oz!... and my trucks are all a later model than Matt's. I recall discussing this topic a while back, but I couldn't find the thread. I did find the oil gauge flex line listed in my Canadian 40-47 truck manual and it shows the 'flexible line' part # as 655498.

I have taken 2 of mine into the local Napa store and they made up new ones in the back room on the spot.

3/16" brake line is what is used. The nut at the gauge end is unique to the gauge so it must be re-used with a new modern common shaped crush ferrule.

A flex hose can be used too if wanted .

Shown is the special thread gauge nut off a 1950 Chrysler 34" flex hose with 3/16"  brass line. Typical of the gauge nut used on all early Mopar cars and trucks.

Originally the ferrule and nut were soldered together from the factory and slid over the 3/16" line, then tightened to the oil gauge probably done this way to speed production.

A modern ferrule will work fine with the nut.

I found a special gas line fitting at the hardware store that replaced both pieces. Came as 1 piece and when installed the ferrule clamps down and the nut comes off.

On the oil gauge ferrule , those that I have seen will only take the special ferrule shown in the above post . A modern ferrule would not fit . Has anyone else used a modern ferrule ?

I believe GGdad51 from the truck side is using the modern ferrule/nut combo that I mentioned.

I believe this is what it is. http://www.supplyhouse.com/Jones-Stephens-C74-158LF-1-4-Lead-Free-OD-Brass-Pilot-Line-Breakaway-Nut

I replaced the flex part of the oil pressure line with a premade AN-2 brake hose with a 90 degree turn at the bottom.  The block fitting was easy, the trick part was finding the adapter from the AN hose to the hardline from the gauge, but I found one.  Hasn't leaked a drop since then.
