Good afternoon! New to the forum today. Taking over my dad's '55 Plymouth Savoy Club Sedan project (not really a project, just his old car) this weekend. 48kis original miles. Crappy respray means there will be some body/paintwork in my future. First project is replacing the front transmission seal on the Powerflite so I can get it back under its own power without it marking its territory like an old Harley.

I look forward to gaining some knowledge from everyone and apologize now for any newby questions I may ask in the near future.

Welcome Frank.  Photos of your car will be appreciated.  We all like to look at someone else's car.  Try search function first then if no luck ask away.  If you don't try and search it first some here will get cranky.

Yes welcome, and do post photos.

They are an invaluable help to others working on the same model car.

Will do! The first pics will be of me towing her home this weekend. Then the assessment and prioritization work begins.

Thanks!

I noticed this, having been in other forums, it's a typical newby mistake, and I'm sure at some point my search criteria won't help so I'll deal with some crankiness lol

Agree Big Swede... some of these old grumps need to understand not everyone is on the same knowledge level as they are and a little gentle nudge to the right area, post, or direct info is very welcome and hospitable to a new guy.

I have found that sometimes a google search reveals more linked info here (and I mean here) than the current search engine does. If it were not for people like Plymouthy Adams, I would have bailed from this place quickly.  People like Tim understandably would prefer you find it in the wealth of knowledge available here, but are willing to lend a hand if you cant.  A lot of good knowledgeable guys here, a few grumpy and I suspect less grumpy if you actually talked to them one on one .... (I won't name you!) but a great place with a mutual love of the same thing we are after...  Welcome friend!

Hey Big Swede,

Welcome to the forum. Nice to see another Floridian here, even if you are in the southern part. Couple of members, Tatback and Dr. Dirt may be around your neck of the woods. They will probably say hi later on.

Yes, welcome to the forum. My second car as a kid was a red and white 55 Plym station wagon. Loved that car.

You might find this one right up your alley even more.

I've been browsing over there too. With this subject, I figured there can't ever be too many resources!

Thanks!

What part of FL are you in? The car is making its travel from just outside Pensacola this weekend.

Hey Big Swede

I'm in Niceville, about 60 miles east of P'cola.

Small world! I grew up in Pace and spent a good portion of the last half of my Air Force career down at Hurlburt Field though I was never stationed there.

It's a small world after all. I was stationed at Hurlburt in 87-90. Went overseas and retired out of Kadena in 99 and out processed at Eglin.

She's loaded up ready to come to her new home. She'll start her voyage in the morning and be in my garage tomorrow evening. My wife thought I was crazy taking on another mistress!

Welcome to the forum Frank!  You will like this place as the many of the people here have a wealth of knowledge concerning our MOPARS.  Most of which is not in our Shop Manuals...someone here has had experience with and are happy to share.  Again...welcome and congrats on your new old '55!

Hey Swede,

What route are you taking? I-10 or Highway 90?

Joe

Dads dragging it I10 and then down to Ocala, I'm meeting him in Ocala and bringing her home.

Looks good Swede.   I see they have already customized the hood for you.

(We have a granddaughter, her husband and two kids who live in P'cola)

We are in Missouri.
