is the question "where" ?

Said may, or may not help.

Did not know we were talking body #

Thought 30, 822 ,246 fell in the range shown.

the number is not within the range of US cars as I can tell...as I stated he is asking of a Plymouth...no Plymouth of this era had a 30 starting number.. the Dodge of US did not fall within this range either...therefore I thought that he may have a Canadian model

My reference info shows a '46 built in L.A., CA

the production numbers listed in my book (also confirmed in the Motors manual) show P15 starting at 26,000,001 for LA Deluxe and 25,000,001 for Special Deluxe...so if a Deluxe the sequence for LA P15's would be unit number 4,822,245 built and if Special Deluxe would be 5,822,245 unit built...

there is no P15 series with the starting number 30 that I can reference to

now is this maybe the BRIGGS body number with 308 as the body style..where did this number come from?

little more looking into the production numbers I find error with the P15/D24 reference section for LA built car last car numbers....that first number being a three should in fact be a 2  there is no way the LA plant pumped out this many cars....

I do understand that the OP said Plymouth.

I do understand the suggestion of possibly a D25

What I saw at the allpar site with the # that the OP provided was  the SN's for D24, therefore my statement of this may, or may not help.

30, 822, 246  appeared to fall in the   30, 799, 738       to       31, 011, 765   range of 1947 D24.

Perhaps this vehicle acquired a new serial # tag along the way

I agree something is amiss with that number and the original poster needs to enter a bit more data in order to clear things up...the calling it a Plymouth may be his only error and it is a true Dodge body...maybe a photograph would be of help here....many think these old cars all look alike and there is no difference between a Plymouth and a Dodge...it may not have the chrome on the body and thus void of a few distinguishing features..he has not been signed back onto the site since his post...until more is said by the owner...it is just a guess on our part what he ay or may not have..but I still say it is not an original Plymouth number..

thanks for the D25 numbers..I had not been able to find them when I first stated it could have been Canadian...Ihave saved this chart to file as I could never find this all in one place before...thanks much for posting

My references, at least as I typed them into the tables used by my serial number lookup page show it to be a Detroit built 1947 Dodge D24:

Serial Number 30822246

Found in range 30799738 to 31011765

Serial 22509 of 212028

Year 1947

Make Dodge

Model Name DeLuxe or Custom

Model Code D24

Plant Detroit

Looks allot like this one. All the chrome has been removed and its in black primer.

that would be the Dodge D24 and will match the very body number you listed in your first post...many folks get the bodies mixed up as they are similar looking...but that is where it stops for the body..the Plymouth is the smaller of the sisters...Dodge, Chrysler and Desoto share a number of panels

I took a guess at the chrome being off the car....but was my best explanation for misidentification..unless the dash has been removed also..the glove box door would have been you best tip off..

What does the title/bill of sale/registration call it?

Was it registered/titled with the serial number, or engine number?

Will there be department of motor vehicles problems in NC if there are errors?
