cvb3b Posted August 6, 2015 Report Posted August 6, 2015 I am rewiring my 52 b3b according to a diagram from a shop manual. My question is the diagram shows positive from battery to ground and everything runs off negative. Is this right? I've never worked on anything this old and don't want to destroy a battery or anything else... Thanks in advance!! Quote
Reg Evans Posted August 6, 2015 Report Posted August 6, 2015 Yes, It's suppose to be + to ground. Quote

cvb3b Posted August 6, 2015 Author Report Posted August 6, 2015 Thank you!! Just seemed wierd to me coming from a 12 v positive world... Quote
Dave72dt Posted August 6, 2015 Report Posted August 6, 2015 The truck is positive ground, so the negative terminal is the power terminal. Just about everything that ran 6 v ran a positive ground system and just about everything went to 12 v negative ground in the mid fifties. Quote
Don Coatney Posted August 6, 2015 Report Posted August 6, 2015 With your re-wire job do you plan on converting to 12 volts? Quote
greg g Posted August 6, 2015 Report Posted August 6, 2015 what gauge wire are you using? Did you do your own or buy a pre made set from one of the vendors? Quote
Brent B3B Posted August 6, 2015 Report Posted August 6, 2015 i look forward to the wiring questions answered. i also am re-wiring following the manual using different gauges as spelled out. the gauge of today's vinyl coating looks smaller than the cloth covered to me but, then again it could just be an illusion. don't mean to turn this into a wiring discussion but, i can't believe how scary that cloth can become Quote
