ruff1148kr Posted March 22, 2015 Report Posted March 22, 2015 Just a dumb question the grill guards that had the Large D in the center, does a 2 ton grill fit a 1/2 ton truck also, they look like the same size afar as the grill shape and size. just wondering saw one for sale and was not sure. Quote
ruff1148kr Posted March 25, 2015 Author Report Posted March 25, 2015 this is what I'm talking about http://www.ebay.com/itm/1948-GRILLE-GUARD-PILOT-HOUSE-DODGE-ORIGINAL-/371285511313?fits=Make%3ADodge&hash=item5672574c91&vxp=mtr 1 Quote
NiftyFifty Posted March 25, 2015 Report Posted March 25, 2015 With a welder and saw, you can make anything fit! Never seen one like that before, and have seen a lot of 1 1/2-3 tons on farms Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted March 25, 2015 Report Posted March 25, 2015 I remarked to myself on the someone welded hooks, heck yeah..and was not smart enough to clean up behind it as it look fresh as a daisy burns...this is not Denmark but the odor is about the same Quote
Dave72dt Posted March 25, 2015 Report Posted March 25, 2015 You can almost see the smoke still curling around the welds. He'd have been better off saying he added the hooks and repaired the cracked welds than wanting a buyer to believe he didn't know "someone". Quote
Brent B3B Posted March 25, 2015 Report Posted March 25, 2015 i don't know if the 48-50 are the same as my B3's but, something to consider might be the mounting, although the frame bolts look like they line up that looks like a lot of weight in the center 4 bolts on the 1/2ton. you might have to punch some support holes and a brace in the 1/2 ton bumper. the other thing, might check the width of the guard, the larger trucks have that 3" (or so) front fender "flairs" that the front bumper extends out to. you can see the mounting holes in the e-bay photo. (photo B3B and B3HH compared) Just a thought Quote
Dodgeb4ya Posted March 25, 2015 Report Posted March 25, 2015 That MoPar guard was made for all the truck models. I have seen it on bigger trucks and in sales literature. It has two angled rods that go through the the front sheet metal to support it vertically. I don't think it will protect the grille much except maybe going through the jungle in heavy brush! Quote
ruff1148kr Posted March 25, 2015 Author Report Posted March 25, 2015 thanks guys I can see in the one pic the grill is a little bigger on the bigger truck even though they look the same Quote
MBF Posted March 26, 2015 Report Posted March 26, 2015 I've got two of those guards, and either one will fit either of my trucks. The one with the D in the center I believe is for the 51-53 B series as the D kind of frames the center medallion. 1 Quote
Dodgeb4ya Posted March 26, 2015 Report Posted March 26, 2015 The grilles are the same size and shape in all 1951-53 1/2 ton through 2-1/2 ton and even the largest dodge trucks the 2-3/4 through 4 tonners. Same goes for the B1 and B 2 series trucks. The guard does not protect the 5" extended fenders on the 1-1/2 thru 2-1/2 ton or the even wider 10" extended fenders on the heavy duty series trucks up to 4 ton. The guard is to kinda protect the main grille area only. Quote
Brent B3B Posted March 26, 2015 Report Posted March 26, 2015 I only ment the bumper on the b3hh is larger than the b3b because of the extensions I guess , and because of the longer bumper the mounting holes on the guard wouldn't line up with on the 1/2 ton . Especially at the ends Maybe I have the wrong bumpers, sounds like all the bumpers are the same size? Quote
Dodgeb4ya Posted March 26, 2015 Report Posted March 26, 2015 There are 3 sizes of bumpers... Yes, You are correct on the HH bumper being bigger and longer than the B,C and D trucks. The 1/2 thru 1 tonners -B,C and D trucks have the smallest size bumper... The 1-1/2 thru 2-1/2 tonners- F,H, J and K trucks have the next up size bigger bumper.. And then the heavy series R,T,V and Y series trucks use the largest sized bumpers. Quote
catfishcuz Posted March 26, 2015 Report Posted March 26, 2015 I have a 48 b1b with one of these guards on it and its been on it since the truck was new ,I know this because I'm the second owner of this truck. The one on ebay reserve is a little high Quote
