casper50 Posted February 23, 2015 Report Posted February 23, 2015 Just got off the phone with Red's Headers. They are not making headers anymore and will not for the foreseeable future. All that I got was "people problems". Quote
T120 Posted February 23, 2015 Report Posted February 23, 2015 I'm sorry to hear that....Is that for all makes, or just our flatheads? Quote
deathbound Posted February 24, 2015 Report Posted February 24, 2015 I'm sure you know Langdon's sells the Fenton style cast iron headers. I have a set & happy with them. Quote
Frank Elder Posted February 24, 2015 Report Posted February 24, 2015 I'm sure you know Langdon's sells the Fenton style cast iron headers. I have a set & happy with them. I'm guessing they are a little quieter than 14-16 gauge tube headers? Quote
casper50 Posted February 24, 2015 Author Report Posted February 24, 2015 I was told that they have quit making headers completely. Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted February 24, 2015 Report Posted February 24, 2015 people problems is quite an all encompassing statement bordering on extreme vagueness. Does it mean that problem with not enough people buying due to price or that people are not aware of their products due to poor marketing or that the people buying are complaining of the product/service. As they are out of the business I would guess none of it is relevant now. Quote
CoronetGuy Posted February 24, 2015 Report Posted February 24, 2015 I emailed them about a month ago to ask the same question. This is what they told me: " Due to manpower problems these headers are currently out of production. We will not be able to make any more for some time, my guess is the earliest we could begin making more will be late in March if everything goes well. Jim Red’s Headers" and then, " Sorry, we are completely out. I have about 20 people on a waiting list, if I had any made they would have shipped already. Jim Red’s" Really stinks since they are nearly $100 cheaper than Langdon's header. And I was hoping to get my car into the exhaust shop in late march/early april. Quote
casper50 Posted February 24, 2015 Author Report Posted February 24, 2015 I wanted a set of Red's over the Langdon's because the Langdon's front set is real close to the fuel pump. Red's is much further back. Quote
Don Coatney Posted February 24, 2015 Report Posted February 24, 2015 Forum member "MOOSE" was making custom headers. Not sure if he is still doing so. Quote
casper50 Posted February 24, 2015 Author Report Posted February 24, 2015 (edited) Thanks Don I emailed him. http://www.manifoldsbymoose.com/home/plymouth-dodge-intakes-and-headers Edited February 24, 2015 by casper50 Quote
1941Rick Posted February 24, 2015 Report Posted February 24, 2015 Sorry to hear they are out of buisness.....I am very happy with my set...Being tube they are not noisy. Me thinks he sold them too, way too cheap. Good quality bends and welds....Much better than some others out there Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted February 24, 2015 Report Posted February 24, 2015 I guess I had not considered 'staff/production workers' as a people problem in my first look at the thread...the silent majority..the working stiff Quote
CoronetGuy Posted February 24, 2015 Report Posted February 24, 2015 Thanks Don I emailed him. http://www.manifoldsbymoose.com/home/plymouth-dodge-intakes-and-headers Anybody on here have a review on these headers by Moose? Quote
deathbound Posted February 24, 2015 Report Posted February 24, 2015 George Asche splits the stock exhaust, I think a few on here have had him do it. Quote
52Suburban Posted February 24, 2015 Report Posted February 24, 2015 (edited) I just got a pair from Moose. They look good - I will post pictures when I get home. I may grind - clean up the welds on the upper pipe a bit. I am going to send them out for ceramic powder coat. I will stay on this thread and let all know how it goes. I have a question. Will I need to run an electric fuel pump and block the mechanical pump? I see that there is heat wrap on the fuel line already - it is kind of frayed and I have some lying around that I may be able to put over the existing.... not sure if this will be enough?? casper50 Posted February 24, 2015 Author Report Posted February 24, 2015 Just looking at the one's on his website I am going to run my stock fuelpump. That's what I don't like about Langdon's the dump is very close to the fuel pump Quote
Mark D Posted February 24, 2015 Report Posted February 24, 2015 (edited) Saw this posted on a facebook site last night... This guy is selling them, but apparently made by someone else. I have no connection other with this guy, so caveat emptor. Forgot to mention he's asking $425/pair. Edited February 24, 2015 by Mark D Quote
Frank Elder Posted February 24, 2015 Report Posted February 24, 2015 What I don't like about Langdons is they cost $350 smacks. 1 Quote
casper50 Posted February 24, 2015 Author Report Posted February 24, 2015 Mark I think that front one will also dump pretty close to the fuel pump. I don't wish to make fuel problems so will steer clear unless they have the dump towards the rear on the front header. 1 Quote
casper50 Posted February 24, 2015 Author Report Posted February 24, 2015 Moose just replied to my request for cost of his headers. $200 + shipping and takes two weeks. I will most likely buy a pair of his. 4 Quote
hkestes41 Posted February 25, 2015 Report Posted February 25, 2015 I have the Langdons on my 230 with stock fuel pump and drive it in the heat of Dallas summers with absolutely zero issues. I have driven it with temps over 100 degrees stopped for a burger and it started right up when i was done eating. Quote
52Suburban Posted February 25, 2015 Report Posted February 25, 2015 Ok here are some pictures of the headers from Moose. I thought there may be a fitment issue with the firewall side but removed the studs and it just fits - I will have to either use shorter studs or bolts 1 Quote
52Suburban Posted February 25, 2015 Report Posted February 25, 2015 Here are some mock up pictures 1 Quote
casper50 Posted February 25, 2015 Author Report Posted February 25, 2015 Thanks for the photos 52S. I have ordered mine. 1 Quote
CoronetGuy Posted February 25, 2015 Report Posted February 25, 2015 What I don't like about Langdons is they cost $350 smacks. I feel the same way. There was one on ebay about a month ago, ended up going for $330 Moose just replied to my request for cost of his headers. $200 + shipping and takes two weeks. I will most likely buy a pair of his. Same here. I like his intake/exhaust combos too, just can't afford both right now 1 Quote
