Can Anybody Identify This Desoto '46, '47, '48 Part?

Can any of you Desoto guys with a 1946, '47, or '48 four-door Custom identify this part?

I took this off the car a couple years ago and forgot to tag it.  I've searched the parts book but cannot find it.  Judging by the rust I'd say it's from under the car or close to it.

I'd like to get a better one somewhere.

I have a 48 DeSoto also, a business coupe, but I can't identify that piece.  It looks like it might be for shielding some wires from the elements.  With that extreme S curve, it might go somewhere on the car where there are some curves.  Maybe under the body or in the trunk?

could it be used the support the rear fender and bolt to the frame and then to the bottom of the fender so that the fender can not be pushed in near the back of the wheel opening.  Just a thought.

Well if it is, Rich, I couldn't see it in the exploded parts diagram, unless it's listed but not in drawing. I see a brace but it looks longer and a different shape.

I like Adams guess.  Sounds about right.  I thought it was for protecting wires too.  this just shows that even though we have good Parts Manuals, you still need to photograph everything with notes during a restoration tear down.

Looks just like the piece that covers the wire to the sending unit as it goes over the outer edge of the trunk floor on my Dodge.  I just happen to be working in the trunk of the Dodge the last couple weekends, or I'd have never guessed.  I can take a photo this evening and post it tomorrow AM.

Yep, that's what it is.  That's one of those parts that will be the same for Chrysler, Dodge, Plymouth, and Desoto.

Now you know, a good cup of coffee is very subjective.  Out here in the Midwest, a good cup of coffee is very weak.  I'm an Italian from California and I like mine almost like espresso.

European grandparents, Army, Germany, South America, and Tim Horton's all contribute to what I consider a good cup of coffee.  Those and tossing in a shot of cognac or Sambuca... ;)
