So my dad and I have been working on old blue (1950 Dodge Truck) .

He thinks the valves may be stuck. Any suggestions on getting them unstuck without  taking the head off?

The compression test was the next step for us. When turning over he thought it wasn't drawing much air thru the carb.

What is ATF?

i have always heard Automatic Transmission Fluid referred to as ATF.

So old blue (1950 dodge truck) has 3 cylinders with 90 lbs and 3 with zero lbs.

Any ideas on how to get the valves unstuck on these three cylinders?

I have read your other thread as well, that you have 3 cylinders with zero compression.  Its time to break out the tools and take off the head.   Then you can turn it over and it will be pretty easy to disagnose what valves are or are not moving freely.

If you truly have stuck valves, you can try pulling the side covers and hitting the valve guides with some penetrating oil and then see if you can gently tap them to get them to move.   If this works, the key is to keep working the valve up and down with penetrating oil until it closes by itself w/o assistance.  I lucked out on my last purchase and caught it in the nick of time.  It was running on 4 cyls when I bought it.  When it was delivered I choked it off on Marvel Mystery Oil (down the carb throat) and let it sit overnite.   The next morning it started on all 6, and has been running fine since.   Good luck.   Mike

I'll let you know the outcome.

Well we are trying the Marvel Mystery Oil and time will tell. We are waiting on a carb kit from Roberts so we have some time. I guess if this doesnt work we will tear into it.
