BobT-47P15 Posted September 12, 2014 Report Posted September 12, 2014 (edited) I think you can use, in most places on the car, some of those new style clips where you break off part of the top to fit the width of the trim. The Tool Warehouse online has some of these...........link........ http://thetoolwarehouse.net/p-38180-auveco-19378.aspx?gclid=CLiWpNrX2sACFehaMgodcR8A7A Edited September 12, 2014 by BobT-47P15 Quote
jholland Posted September 12, 2014 Author Report Posted September 12, 2014 Looking for fender, door and rear fender. The ones that I have all look similar to each other. I will do another search but didn't see anything recent on where to find some. Thanks Jim Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted September 12, 2014 Report Posted September 12, 2014 The front fender trim on a P15 has an offset stud that is not centered. Pretty much of the rest is centered to the trim piece. Quote

Dave72dt Posted September 12, 2014 Report Posted September 12, 2014 Auveco carries them, available at many parts stores in their trim fastener sections. I imagine other manufacturers make a similar product. Restoration Specialties may also. Quote
steveplym Posted September 12, 2014 Report Posted September 12, 2014 Try restoration specialties. They have a lot of clips like that. I bought all those clips for my Plymouth there. 1 Quote

Plymouthy Adams Posted September 12, 2014 Report Posted September 12, 2014 while the universal cut to fit clip is versatile in the fact you can about duplicate large variety of styles and shapes as they are also can be bent and shaped...I do want to point out to the user that the mounting stud is very much the weak link in this style..look carefully at any you choose to use and if necessary do a quick spot weld to the stud. This will allow for ease of install and added strength when later you want to remove the nut..I know it is a pain with this extra step but prevents lots of fuss and cuss later...I also recommend that you use the self sealing nut and add a bit of 3M body sealer dum-dum about the back side of the clip and stud..this will prevent not only some scratching to the paint but will help shield water and dust from entering here and also goes a long way to add greater rust out protection the mounting hole in the body from any accumulation of dirt and water during normal use of the vehicle..My last order was 100 from an E-bay seller with your choice of plain or self seal nuts.. desoto1939 Posted September 12, 2014 Report Posted September 12, 2014 Go to a good auto paint supplier and take several pices of your trim with you. Also measure the size of the hole in the body where the trim mounts to the body. WHen I redid my 39 Desoto we did not use the metal trim clips but used a universal plastic clip. This was done because the plastic will not rust and it is easier to push the plastic into the holes and they are never seen by anyone after the trim is put back on the car. Even if you are having the car jusdge they are not seen. Us the modern clips becasue they are eaier to find and are cheaper. NOS sometimes is not the way to go but you are the ones that is doing the resto and its your money to be spent. Rich Hartung Desoto1939@aol.com Quote
