jcmiller Posted June 20, 2014 Report Posted June 20, 2014 Can someone please post a picture of the "spring clips" used to attach the cardboard panel that is inside the trunk and attached to the rear seat support? I've been told that Restoration Specialties carries them, but I can't find them, probably because I don't know what they look like. Thanks! Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted June 20, 2014 Report Posted June 20, 2014 look first to see if your clips are not just tabs of steel welded to the bracing that the paperboard just slips onto Quote
Young Ed Posted June 20, 2014 Report Posted June 20, 2014 Tragic I was planning to order up some of these for myself too. My search just told me they are discontinued! So if you do find something please post it. Quote
1940 Dodge VC Posted June 21, 2014 Report Posted June 21, 2014 I found something similar at a hardware store called MACS in Fargo. They were in the upholstery section. Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted June 21, 2014 Report Posted June 21, 2014 (edited) those I know are for the package tray and the kick panels..also used on the bz cp quarter panels...but did not recall removing them for the divider..just hanging on a tab is my recollection..I bought a number of these from RS not long ago...I even got a few of the longer shanks for the padding and material I covered my package tray with.. Young Ed Posted June 21, 2014 Report Posted June 21, 2014 I do not have a divider piece currently installed in Spot but I believe I have holes for these clips and 1-2 hanging there. Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted June 21, 2014 Report Posted June 21, 2014 ok...I am wrong on the back panel..they do get the push clips on the P15...had to go out to the barn to verify..something I should have done first off.. http://www.ebay.com/itm/1930s-1940s-1950s-Round-Head-Aluminum-Capped-Trim-Fasteners-Ford-Dodge-40-/161339633048?pt=Vintage_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item2590976d98&vxp=mtr Quote
wdoland Posted June 21, 2014 Report Posted June 21, 2014 Why are there 4 watchers for the clips on ebay. You either buy them for 20 bucks or you don't. Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted June 21, 2014 Report Posted June 21, 2014 guess for the same reason folks kick car tires and not buy them....procrastination thing I would guess..often I wonder if these are flagged as true watchers or just hits posted as such by e-bay to "apply some pressure"...that is where they make the money..I would have thought our requester for these would have pulled the trigger on them... ChrisRice Posted June 22, 2014 Report Posted June 22, 2014 Don, so do I. But it's nice to know where to find the stuff I will need to buy later on. Quote
DJ194950 Posted June 22, 2014 Report Posted June 22, 2014 If you find a single sample still in one of the holes that attached that trunk panel, perhaps you can find an established (older) upholstery shop, they can probably help you out. Even here in Ca. i did find One UP. shop. that had been around for ever by the same name, new owner but was 30 year employee there before the old owner died. Had to move shop though! He spent at least 30 minutes himself to locate some of the same type clips for my 50 PLY. Said he knew he had some but still had not got everything organized after 6 months. Would not let me leave until he found them! Said he could still order the same part through at least one supplier. Then he said would 5 bucks for 10 out the door be OK? Man I appreciate this guy's attitude! He must love old Cars! DJ Quote
jcmiller Posted June 22, 2014 Author Report Posted June 22, 2014 Thanks everyone. I bought those clips posted on Ebay. Ed, PM me if you want some - I think I'll use 20 or less for the divider and there are 40. Jeff Quote
