I guess that the steering mechanism moves the center of gravity (engine, driver, etc.) to the right or left of the plane of the big wheel.  So the thing will lean and turn in the intended direction.

But how does it stop?  ("Very carefully", the comment from the back row.)  The engine and driver have some momentum and inertia.  Clamping the wheel would reduce forward momentum while disturbing the inertia.  In a panic stop the driver would rotate forward, head over heels.

When we did the chassis, it was setup at ride height with solid struts in place of shocks. The height in the front is 21.75" and that measurement is taken from the bottom of the front fender lip to the ground. The rear is 24.50" and is measured the same as front.

I got the car aligned with the struts in place. That way the alignment is correct at ride height. After alignment I put the coilovers on and did adjustments after taking it out for a ride to bring it back to the original ride height settings.

I have kept up measuring every now and then, making sure the height stays correct. Eventually it will find its settle and you just check to make sure.

I really think the OP needs to go back to square one, put the body back on, set the ride height for what he wants and do his own measurements on the chassis. How I may want it to look at ride height and how he may want it to look or anyone else want's it to look is a personal choice unless they intend to duplicate someone else's choice. Fender lip to ground distances can vary depending on tire choice too and trying to use a front fender distance will be hard to duplicate or calculate with the body in pieces.

I don't know how the OP wants his car to look. Only he does and he hasn't said how he wants it other than lowered. How much, front down, rear down, straight down, front down more than the rear, rear more than the front. Anyone measuring their chassis with stock springs has to remember those springs are old and worn and will vary from car to car so they're also a poor reference.

Chopt50wgn. That is the look I'm going for. I like the stance of your car. Thanks for the info.

Dave72dt. Your right I really haven't said what I want. I wasn't sure yet. Now that I have seen some and got some measurements I have an idea of what I want. Most pics on the internet are not good side shots or the cars are way to low

I could put the body back on it if I had it at my house and remeasure it but unfortunately it's not.

Thanks for all the info and pics everyone

Pop quiz:

How do you propose to transfer chopt50wgn's BODY dimensions to your CHASSIS without going back to your body?

Sorry Don.

It's really easy, very accurate and probably takes about 5 minutes to do, little to no math involved.

Here's another way to stop one... Not a recommended way, but...

I'm going to go out on a limb here and guess it wouldn't do well on rain slick roads with puddles.

Since only one taker on the pop quiz, answer is:

Ask chopt50wgn to measure his CHASSIS at a couple reference points and ask what size tires are on it. With that data, OP can set his chassis up to get an identical stance.

Funny you posted this I had just sent him a pm asking if I could trouble him for frame measurements. I keep bashing my head against my bench frustrated that I lost those measurements.  See what happens when you clean up.

So I got measurements figured out and WRITTEN down. Wrote them on paper stapled to the wall and also my dry erase board. Got all suspension and brackets removed stripped all under coating and brackets. On it's way to sand blaster Monday

Thanks for the measurements and help everyone
