Fernando Mendes Posted April 11, 2014 Report Posted April 11, 2014 The oil filter flexible tubes or solid copper tubes?Jeep has flexible,Dodge has solid.Thanks. Quote
Merle Coggins Posted April 11, 2014 Report Posted April 11, 2014 Mine has steel lines and the filter is bolted to the engine so there's no movement of the lines. They'll last forever. If your filter is remote mounted from the engine then I'd go with flexible lines. 1 Quote

Young Ed Posted April 11, 2014 Report Posted April 11, 2014 As long as the lines are only on the engine and the filter is too they won't fibrate and break. Its lines that are connected to the engine and then say the firewall that you need to be concerned about. Quote
TodFitch Posted April 11, 2014 Report Posted April 11, 2014 ...and copper will break soon?Bolted to the engine. As copper flexes it work hardens and becomes brittle. If the copper is securely held so that it cannot vibrate and there is no place that is being flexed then it can be serviceable. But a long (more than say 20 cm length) that is unsupported on a car or engine in a car will probably vibrate and become unsafe over time. Quote
Ulu Posted May 10, 2014 Report Posted May 10, 2014 Mine had copper tube on it for 60,000 mines with no issues. The trick is to just put an extra loop in the tube so it has lots of freedom to expand and contract and vibrate. I bent the copper around an old 2" pipe, to make just one loop, close to the engine side. Quote
