White Spyder Posted January 24, 2014 Report Posted January 24, 2014 I am in the midst of a disk brake conversion using Rusty Hope's kit. How did you route your brake hose? In photo 1 going between the shock and knuckle mount there is a possibility of the hose gettin pinched by the bump stop with a good compression of the shock. In the second the hose is goin between the knuckle mount and the king pin housing presenting the possibility of it getting pinched as the wheel is turned. What is the consensis??? Quote
Daliant. Posted January 24, 2014 Report Posted January 24, 2014 I zip-tied the brake hose to the upright to keep the hose out of harms way when I swapped in the disks on my car, I left a little slack in the line so it has room to move when turning. Quote
Don Coatney Posted January 25, 2014 Report Posted January 25, 2014 Pictured is how I did my flex lines. Quote
oldodge41 Posted January 25, 2014 Report Posted January 25, 2014 Don, I know what it is, but to the uninformed it could be seen as a way to drink Scotch through a straw while performing auto repair. It is what I think it is, isn't it? Quote

50 coupe Posted January 25, 2014 Report Posted January 25, 2014 Spyder, how is it going using Rusty's kit? I will be starting my front disc conversion soon but haven't decided what kit i will use. I reviewed the info on Rusty's web site months ago but these days the pics on the site don't pull up so I am not able to get a good idea of what parts I would need to pull and send him. If I recall, he can do some bolt hole drilling and such that will make it easier but I want to be able to see what I need to do at this point. Quote
hkestes41 Posted January 26, 2014 Report Posted January 26, 2014 50 I am using the Rusty Hope set up on my 48 Coupe. I drilled my own spindle mounting holes because the car was my daily driver at the time and I could not be down long enough to ship the parts to Florida and back. However, if you have the time to have your suspension apart I would absolutely recommend that you consider letting Charlie do the drilling / tapping. While I got mine together it could have been much better it it was drilled using the proper tools. 1 Quote
White Spyder Posted January 31, 2014 Author Report Posted January 31, 2014 (edited) Work has been demanding this week but all I have left to do is bleed the lines. I have to wait until the wife is ready to listen to me say "push and hold........let off. Push and hold........let off" multiple times. Returning home from a road trip with a nice bottle of wine and the latest gossip rag as a bribe. You will need to drill and tap the holes on the steering knuckles. This involves removing the king pins. The steering arms that attach to the back of the old drum system will need to be drilled only. I haves access to a large drill press and did the work myself. Some have done the drilling while the parts are on the car but it takes a large drill and a steady hand. Edited February 1, 2014 by White Spyder Quote
