Ordered this "All Glass" tail light lens with a chip where it dont show,,,under the frame holder.

When the box came could feel its pretty light.  Unwrapped half a newspaper to find a Dodal "all plastic" lens,,,dirty as heck, of which that will clean,,,but not sure I would have sold it that way.

Think I will relook over any purchases and ask specific questions before buying.from now on.

Not super disappointed but soured a touch

Maybe the seller meant it is that new plastic glass? Im just goofin around LOL. Sucks that he misrepresented his item. Perhaps email him and ask him why the item is not as he described....maybe he made a mistake in shipping and will be willing to rectify the problem without any negative feedback? It could be a nefarious plan to separate you from your money, or it could be an honest mistake.

Thought of those things,,guess I am not a picky enuf buyer.  There are a few scratches on the plastic lens, minor, can they be buffed out like a headlight lens fog????

When I saw and snap ordered this item I "THOUGHT" the other lens was original and glass.  Now looking it is Dodal plastic also.  Did all lens originally come as plastic Dodal or all glass??  So if both are, were plastic does that mean they were both replaced at some point?

I see the all glass ones on ebay at huge prices,,,not sure I need those 'yet' anyway,,,gonna save my sheckles  for more needed items

I did feel like asking him why he misrepresented or didnt he know what he was saying

OR was most expensive models glass and less plastic?

The brake/tail lenses on my 1950 windsor are plastic. Not sure if they are original or not but they sure look like they have been on there for more than half a century.

not sure about which models and if applied across the board or not but '49 was the start of the plastic lens era..the rears of all three of my 49 Ply's were plastic, my 51 and two 52 are plastic..the 54 is plastic....my 51 Packard are plastic..(glass front though) as for trucks..would believe they followed suit..

Might not be a bad idea to put some negative feedback concerning the accuracy of the description with eBay.

And a double check reread is never out of line before leaving feedback.

Ironically, plastic lenses fetch a premium on eBay.

The glass lens (although they are for older model cars) do not sell any where near the price of plastic lens.

1950's 1960's and 1970's cars might be more desirable or the plastic lens might be more prone to cracks, crazing, yellowing or easier to damage.

Glass although it does break, it seems to be more durable and last longer then the plastic lenses.

All this info I find somewhat strange and interesting, but I've only looked on Ebay for 49 and 50 Ply. parts the past 10 years.

All new NOS, old replacement and used taillights were plastic.

The original front turn signals were also plastic. I have 1/12 sets saved for? Pretty cloudy and checked!

99.9 % of advertised replacements non-NOS were glass for the turn signals. A very few were advertised as plastic replacements, then a few I believe found out that they may be NOS plastic and boy the prices went way up.

Were plastic replacements made aftermarket by someone for a time?

Seems the plastic could be either NOS or aftermarket.

Still not what was advertised, I'd certainly contact the seller  about the Discription. Expect what was advertised!
