tylorelliott91 Posted October 27, 2013 Report Posted October 27, 2013 I have a 1948 p15 special deluxe that I am attempting to work on. What would be the best restoration and repair manual for me to purchase? Quote
lh3384 Posted February 2, 2014 Report Posted February 2, 2014 Larry Lyles did a 46 ford from a field in Timbuktu to show quality. It is really a great book even though its not car specific in your case. Project Street Rod: The Step-by-step Restoration of a Popular Vintage Car. Quote
Don Coatney Posted February 2, 2014 Report Posted February 2, 2014 I have a 1948 p15 special deluxe that I am attempting to work on. What would be the best restoration and repair manual for me to purchase? What is your objective? Restoration, repair, upgrade, hotrod, custom, ETC.? What is your skill set? Have you ever rebuilt an engine or transmission? Ever done body work? What is the first thing you plan to do to your car? There is no one book that covers all of the above. Identify what direction you want to go and you will get many recommendations on the best manual to purchase. Quote
TodFitch Posted February 2, 2014 Report Posted February 2, 2014 If you are going to keep any of the car somewhat stock, I'd strongly recommend getting a reprint of the factory service manual. A copy of the parts book is a good thing to, turns out that lots of times you can cross the original Chrysler part number to something new even if the vendor's computer doesn't know that if fits on your 48 Plymouth. soth122003 Posted February 23, 2014 Report Posted February 23, 2014 Hi all, I just bought a 1948 P-15 Special Deluxe and a friend of mine let me borrow his Motor's Repair manual. This book covers all cars from 1935 to 1952. Excellent how to book. Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted February 23, 2014 Report Posted February 23, 2014 Motors makes a very good repair manual but still has lots of information you will need to cover and service your car properly. There is no substitute for the factory manual together thought they are definitely a pair to draw to.. Quote
