SSD Posted March 1, 2013 Author Report Posted March 1, 2013 so the second leaver is the parking brake what do you adapt that to when you swap the tranny? Oh and heres some more pics Quote
TodFitch Posted March 1, 2013 Report Posted March 1, 2013 What is the big capacator for? That big red cylinder thing? I think it's the top of a vertically mounted aftermarket Ford "ahooga" horn. Seems like they get put on lots of cars, even those built by a different manufacturer in a different decade. Quote
1952B3b23 Posted March 2, 2013 Report Posted March 2, 2013 Looks like some one also did some re-wiring and added some fuse blocks... not a bad idea. Quote
Young Ed Posted March 2, 2013 Report Posted March 2, 2013 Ideally I will mount that parking brake handle to some sort of fabricated bracket that will allow it to pull the cables of a modern rear axle. I see some more clues to support my theory of its a p23 with an extra stamped letter. There is a throttle return spring eyelet on the head that the cars used for the head mounted throttle linkage. Also the later style thermostat housing. Quote

On the '33 and, I think, '34 Plymouth cars an identical looking parking brake handle is on an L shaped bracket that is bolted on to the back side of the same frame cross member that holds the rear motor mounts. 48Dodger Posted March 2, 2013 Report Posted March 2, 2013 Your parking brake is a Trans brake, where the modern E brakes use the axle brakes. You might not get the pull/leverage sweep you need from the Trans brake for the rear axle brakes cables. To stay vintage and mopar, maybe look at the 1950 pilot-house pull brake. 48D Quote
