greg g Posted February 9, 2013 Report Posted February 9, 2013 Woke up to about 9 inches, partly cloudy sky with some sunlight and blue sneaking through. No wind to speak of, looks like about 7 inches of new snow. No wind to speak of so we didn't get blizzard, just new snow. Guess the snow blower is on the agenda for next activity. Quote
1940plymouth Posted February 9, 2013 Report Posted February 9, 2013 About six inches of fresh snow on the ground here at 4am this morning, bright sunny day with the wind blowing at a good clip. We were out plowing and sanding at 6am with the town. Quote
rtlsnakedaddy Posted February 9, 2013 Report Posted February 9, 2013 Spent the last 5 hours clearing the driveway with the help of my neighbor and his John Deer with snowblower. About 3-4 feet of snow with drifts in my driveway that were chest deep (I'm 6'4" so 5' or so with drifts). Not much falling now though. Erich Quote
greg g Posted February 9, 2013 Report Posted February 9, 2013 hour and a half to do the drive way and sidewalks, at 3 PM the driveway is clear and black, roads are clear ad drive. Noting compared to folks to the east of us. Quote
fstfish66 Posted February 10, 2013 Report Posted February 10, 2013 all said and done we got almost 4 inches total here in eastern PA,,, it could have been worse,,,,hope all you in the north east are doing ok,,, Quote
jholland Posted February 11, 2013 Report Posted February 11, 2013 Western Nebraska only got maybe 2" but man did the wind blow. 50 mile per hour plus. Good thing we didn't get the 8" they were calling for. Quote
pflaming Posted February 11, 2013 Author Report Posted February 11, 2013 jholland, where in Western Nebraska are you? My roots are between Ogallala and North Platte, south of the river. I went through the blizzard of '49. 70 mph wind for three days and 30+ inches of snow. We did not get off the ranch for four weeks! Quote
Joe Flanagan Posted February 11, 2013 Report Posted February 11, 2013 My family on Cape Cod got about 16 inches and the winds gusted to over 80 MPH. Most everyone was without power but they're getting it all back up now. Luckily my folks have a generator. Quote
moose Posted February 11, 2013 Report Posted February 11, 2013 We got around 18" of heavy snow. Not much drifting here, too many trees maybe. Our power went out Friday at 1130pm and just came back today at 230. Kids had no school today and have loved it the whole time. We had hot water and stove and fireplace, all gas, but no heat. The whole thing wasn't too bad except getting into bed last night when it was 45 degrees in our room! Quote

TodFitch Posted February 13, 2013 Report Posted February 13, 2013 u must have electric heat ? Typical gas heaters in my part of the country need electricity to run: Power needed for the forced air fan and to run the controls, thermostat, etc. Quote
moose Posted February 13, 2013 Report Posted February 13, 2013 (edited) No, gas boiler, hot water baseboard heat, and even though the pilot stayed on, it has to have power to let it start the burner. Yeah, what Tod said^^^ Edited February 13, 2013 by moose Quote
John Reddie Posted February 13, 2013 Report Posted February 13, 2013 I had about two feet of snow and lost three trees. No power from Friday night to Tuesday morning. No frozen pipes the the good Lord. John R Quote
