Is another BIG RACE!

As some of you recall, ten or so years ago my good friend Pete (Blueskies) Anderson and I were both building hopped up flatties. The bickering, and bantering between us on who would be done first (I phoned Pete the first time I started my engine so he could hear it running) and who would have the fastest car led to the challenge of a big race. We held back nothing and shared all of the information we discovered during the time we built these race cars. We did not ask questions such as what the car would be worth when completed, we did not ask for suggestions nor approval on what we were doing. We agreed to disagree with no hard feelings nor bad words between us. We traveled uncharted roads knowing that failure was not an option for either of us. We both got inventive and solved problems with a bit of innovation. I fully believe that Pete and I learned from each other, and we learned from every forum member that commented on our trials and tribulations. I believe every forum member learned something useful and/or got a lot of laugh’s from the many postings that were made. In other words we had a lot of fun and many worthwhile forum contributions were the result.

I would like to see another big challenge. I suggest that others engage in a friendly completion and keep the good spirits going. There have been way too many threads that have gone south and we all have the power to fix this problem.

PS:

Dont matter what Pete says, I WON!

I was just trying to keep up with them during the big Tulsa street

race in '07.......

They were moving right along.

I agree with Don.....we could use some more good natured fun and

frivolity (automotively speaking) on here.

I'm sure many "newcomers" here have no clue about the race story,

as it happened in 2007 and before......so may want to do a little search of

old posts on the topic.

I agree with dad. Tim allowed me some wheel time in his slush box transmissioned blue Plymouth on my last visit. I was impressed with the way it drove.

That chrysler against any lil 230...doesn't seem that fair...hey, what does that inner fender say, I can't re-read it?! - besides, don't you need to button up that new auto tranny still?

I'm out of this race till funding and parts{mostly more parts} are procured...the interior is up right now...and she needs it! The new{to me} 39 ply dash needs to be reworked for custom gauges so I don't trash the oem 40 dash.

I found some photos for ideas on my "37" race car.

37 Coupe body,,,,,set it on a Ranger frame,,,,,56 flathead engine,,,

TK5 Ranger transmission.

I should have it driveable, in about 10 years...maybe, you can not rush perfection..

my coupe is not 'race' ready yet but I have made so many gains the 11 months since I started messing the project...like always and eveyone here, house, yard and other things cut into your shop time but we still having fun and staying focused. I have one more item for the 'burb to get out of my way and its about 50% finished as of last evening and then back to the coupe..the axles should be delived to Moser Engineering this evening for changing bolt pattern to 5 x 4.5 from the stock Dakota 6 lug..the drums, rotors and front hubs have already been addressed..just got the rockers to repair and the body will be solid and I can touch the underside of the body up with paint and undercoating..again, no big hurry..little here, little there, just keeping it fun...

I know that when we drove thru that friday{?}, heading to Rushmore, there was a bunch of nice hardware out on the freeways...I wanted to stop by but I was outvoted by the kids and wife{boy that never happens!} to see it...the big salvage yard higher up was a no go too...bunch of wet blankets!:D

You'll just have to come back. Back to the 50s is fun and so are those salvage yards.
