JerseyHarold
I just renewed my antique auto insurance and realized the 'stated values' I used originally are now way too low. The insurance company phone rep suggested the NADA website but I thought their categories are too vague. I'm looking for a 'grade 1-6' type of pricing but haven't been able to find a website that works that way. Any suggestions appreciated. fatFreddie
VMR is the site the insurance companies use...you can see which ones use it in the banner ...they may say "we insure for "stated value"" and take your premium money for your "stated value" but when you have a TOTAL loss they go right to this guide for pay off if you did not have 2 independent appraisals in the last 3 years confirming your "stated value". Then you have to sue them to pay up which is more money and hassle then to just accept their amount....and they (insurance companies) know it. Do not be fooled if you insure that P-15 hot rod for 50K and it gets toasted in a California wildfire...they will only pay you 10K... http://collectorcarmarket.com/menus/makes.html

Don Coatney
Interesting that a 1948 Plymouth 4 door rated as a number 2 is valued at $6,700.00, and a 1948 ford 4 door rated as a number 2 is valued at $11,125.00. Also interesting is the pluses and minuses on the ford.. Add: Overdrive 5% Columbia 2spd 10% Deduct: 226-95hp (6cyl-1V) -10% 1948 shiverlay 4 door number 2 rated at $9,125.00. 1848 buick roadmaster number 2 rated at $14,300.00. bamfordsgarage
Values appear reasonable regards my Canadian D25 1947 Dodge, equivalent to the American P15 Plymouth. Condition #4 value is shown at $1,350 which might be a quick sale in our area, whereas a $2,000 sale would likely be a long time coming. Interestingly, that VMR valuation is a little over half the fuel bill for our last road trip.

JerseyHarold
Harold check out the price guide that hagerty has on their website. I did and found it very interesting. My Plymouths aren't exactly increasing in value like a rocket, and I have a better idea of what insurance company reality is. Thanks for the heads-up.
