How tall should the hood bumpers be? The ones I got don’t seem to be tall enough. They sit just below the fender lip and not high enough to hold the hood. The guy who sold them said they are the correct ones. I guess, will have to buy a new set. What are the correct dimensions I should be looking for?

Thanks,

Alex

by profile you have two cars..am assuming it will be for one of these, as the P15 is a bit tougher to find these bumpers would guess for this car..the front ones are found in the right height from Rest. Spec. but a bit less in diameter and the rear ones are right diameter and bit less in theight..I have not found the correct ones either..got some super close though..

i see a lot of cars (especially fords) with large gaps under the hood and trunk lids. things didnt fit too well back then. also front clip adj has a lot to do with hood fit.

tossing this out....there were a few plants making these cars, detroit, calf and e-ville ind. maybe more. i wonder if the stampings from each plant were a bit different.? meaning the trunks might fit bettr from indiana cars than detroit (canada) cars. know what i mean.?

I ordered replacements for mine from Roberts Motor Parts. They look exactly like the ones in this photo. The alignment of the hood to the fender is great.

I have these exact ones, but I find they are too short and dont clear top edge of the fender. The hood will never rest on them no matter how low I set the hood.

Ill take a picture of it tonight and will post here.

Mrwrstory-

do you find that hight being tall enough to clear the endge of the fender and prevent the hood from hitting the fender.

Thanks

Yes, far's I know mine are stock from '48. The ones shown in the pic don't apear tall enough.

these are the ones I have. they are not tall enough to stop the hood from hitting the fender. If any one knows a source where they have taller ones please let me know.

thanks

In going through my stuff for the Ford wagon, I came across these bumpers. They are the right height but the

dia. is only .50" vs .62" for the Plymouth ones. Check it out. I think they could work. I don't have a part #. Go to the

mid 50's Ford resto rubber parts sources. I will do that if anyone wishes.

Stumbled on these while working on my rear seat project.  Dimensions are not "correct" but I think they could be made to work.  They're nice and soft,...from a VW Vanagon.  Bumpers for the fold down rear seat.  Although they are only about .21" thick, a rubber washer beneath could make it servicable.  Part # is 4692224 with a 15 separate.

Bill I was able to find some very close bumpers at the local do it best hardware store. I think they were about a buck each. Its hard to tell from the photo but I think they are taller than what you have. If you want I can measure mine and could pick some up for you.

Thanks Harold and Ed.  I'm good for now assuming I can remember to check this thread when I get to that point  ;)

I measured mine some time ago.....came up with a height of 5/16 and
diameter across the top of 5/8 inch.

Contact Dave at krusn.........he makes rubber items. His email is:

krusn64@aol.com

Found Daves rubber parts list from 2011, newest I have. Thought I'd post for all of you.

Have bought from Dave before, very nice parts and also a nice person to deal with.

Confrimed this week on another Plymouth forum that his email address is still the same, but believe that he's no longer accepting phone orders, at least not at the # listed on the page.

Best to ya,

Doug
