NiftyFifty Posted May 11, 2012 Report Posted May 11, 2012 Hey gents, I'm doing a re-paint and a few changes on my truck and I finally broke down and pulled my grill bars off my 50 because their so damaged, but I would like to cover up the holes and the bolts that mount the rad cradle... I've done a bunch of searches but can only find mods to the job rated grills... Anyone have some pics of other ideas used? Thanks! Quote
pflaming Posted May 11, 2012 Report Posted May 11, 2012 Found these when looking for lowered trucks. I think one could do more without the bars than with them. Put the truck in gray scale and get a set of felt pen colors and dream. Quote
NiftyFifty Posted May 11, 2012 Author Report Posted May 11, 2012 I found one with what looks to be a 2002 grill mounted with just the Bottom steel bar showing.. Looked good.. Might have a peek at some dimensions at the wrecker Quote
tom'sB2B Posted May 11, 2012 Report Posted May 11, 2012 I think that this truck looks pretty tough Quote
olddodgeguy Posted May 11, 2012 Report Posted May 11, 2012 Here is what I did at first but got a different front end so decided to go back to stock since the bars where in fair shape and didn't require much straightening. There is a lot that can be done with these front ends. Good luck! Mike Quote
Dave72dt Posted May 11, 2012 Report Posted May 11, 2012 Based on the copper colored truck in Post #4, fill the top wide and narrow sections and the bottom narrow section and the hole for the crank. Should give you 2 wide sections seperated by a narrow. Would look good to me. Quote
Young Ed Posted May 11, 2012 Report Posted May 11, 2012 Quote I think that this truck looks pretty tough Tom out of curiousity where'd you get that pic? Quote
tom'sB2B Posted May 12, 2012 Report Posted May 12, 2012 Good question. I think I got it off a google picture search Quote
Young Ed Posted May 13, 2012 Report Posted May 13, 2012 Interesting. Pretty sure I took it at back to the 50s here in minneapolis. Quote
NiftyFifty Posted May 16, 2012 Author Report Posted May 16, 2012 Went pretty plain...I used a piece of expanded metal behind the grill and some chrome carriage botls to hold it in. Really not happy with my latest Armour Coat/Tremclade paint job...and mostly the tremclade..really doesn't seem as hard as the armour coat paint and both were thinned the same. I like the grill this way...but now the strugle to build a new bumper tomorrow, as well as install the new Cobra Cooper tires on my new to me rims, and to finish the day the new door decals.... Quote
