Hello Everyone.

Been tooling around this site and figured it was time to join and share in the fun. This site by far has the most knowledge and general comraderie out of any other boards I've been on even outside of cars and such. I thank you for letting me join and hope someday I might be able to add something.

Now the particulars: one of my tractor mechanics just sold me his beloved 52 standard cab. It came with basically two parts trucks, 4 engines and 3 transmissions, an extra 52 frame rail that was made into a matching trailer, and 3 extra titles.... It was his daily driver since 1966 and he parked it 99 to do the 3rd restoration on it but never got around to it. The truck isn't exactly pretty or original; but I drove it onto the trailer to get it home. Basic plans are to blast it down (done) rework the brakes, pretty her up, and get it on the road by spring for my wife. Yep... This is my wifes truck.

Again thanks for this site and as soon as my 9 year old shows me how to... I'll post some pics.

welcome. I don't want to sound like a putz' date=' but, where is "down the shore"?[/quote']

Down the shore is in the peoples republic of New Jersey. Local lingo I guess.

We live in a small town at the ocean. So subsequently everything I own is rusty.

Still working on them pics.

ok. Think I got it.

Well heres a couple pics of the progress. The truck was together and running before I got to this stage. Really only took me a day to bust it down and catalog everything. Took another day to blast and air sand.

Like I said, it aint pretty or original but I'll get it back as close as i can without investing too much money.

The plan is as folows.

blast the rest of the frame and undercarrige.

apply a generous coat of por 15 on everything not going to be exposed to direct light.

redo brakes, completely.

shocks n spring rework.

rewire.

body.

Budget is 2k, and realistically I'm guessing $1200 will go for a complete brake overhaul. The rest of the truck is pretty sound besides some weak spots in the cab.

Tell me what you think?

Interesting extra.. This truck also ran on LP.....

Donor trailer that needs alot of work.

Some of the extras I have put away so far. Still basically have parts from one truck to go.

I just did the brakes on my 52 1 ton. Cylinders were about $48 ea from NAPA, and the rubber lines were about 18 bucks each. I would say if you're doing the work yourself, you should be get away with about half of your brake budget. Looks like a lot of progress going on there. Good luck with it. Mike

From what I've read here, there isn't a dual master that will fit, but there's a post with pictures on the mods you have to make to the cross-member to make it work.

I did the disc brake conversion and the difference in braking is very noticeable.
