Cpt.Fred Posted October 17, 2011 Report Posted October 17, 2011 I had the greatest time this weekend, thought i'd share some pics here! perfect autumn sun, no clouds at all, 600miles, 18mpg and an average speed of 50. happy happy happy! photos made by a friend: Quote
1940plymouth Posted October 17, 2011 Report Posted October 17, 2011 Cpt Fred, Great photos, thanks so much for sharing. Good that you had no clouds and great weather, not like that here, cold, wet and very windy. I see the trees are turning over there, here our leaves are just about gone now on many trees Thanks again, Bob Quote
Chester Brzostowski Posted October 17, 2011 Report Posted October 17, 2011 It's much more fun driving them then working on them. But each has it's moments. Great job, Chet... Quote
greg g Posted October 17, 2011 Report Posted October 17, 2011 Fred is your oil pressure gauge correct? Looks a bit low for 55 MPH. Quote
Cpt.Fred Posted October 17, 2011 Author Report Posted October 17, 2011 Actually i don't know for sure. it drops even lower when stuff gets real hot... but normally it stays there when i reach 160-180°F. Maybe i should inspect the valve, the spring was broken when i first opened it last year and i put some washers in to raise pressure since i couldn't get a new one. i'll take a look and then rummage through some of my boxes... who knows, maybe i find something i can put in there. I'm running SAE30 and though it leaks it doesn't burn any. What do you think, anything else i should check? Quote
1940plymouth Posted October 17, 2011 Report Posted October 17, 2011 Fred, Is that a corn field to the right in the one photo? Quote
Cpt.Fred Posted October 17, 2011 Author Report Posted October 17, 2011 yep, that's corn. last crop standing... everything else was already mowed and hauled home. we had the first frost from friday to saturday, below 0°C when i started, and i had ice build up on the carbs' bases. Quote
PhilJohnson Posted October 17, 2011 Report Posted October 17, 2011 I can see why Germans settled in Wisconsin, the landscape is very similar. Quote
Cpt.Fred Posted October 17, 2011 Author Report Posted October 17, 2011 I crossed Mecklenburg, going through Schleswig-Holstein into Hamburg, then on to Bremen and into Niedersachsen. All those are very flat and in the North of Germany. If you go to Hessen, for example, i have been told it looks more like North Carolina. Quote
P-12 Tommy Posted October 17, 2011 Report Posted October 17, 2011 Glad you had fun Fred! My P-12 has been sitting in Malabar, Florida since Aug 30 waiting for Terri's estate to be settled. The title was still in her name and she didn't leave a will. Probably will take months to figure out. Her son-in-law said it started right up after sitting for a month and a half. Tom Quote

I know estates take forever to settle and how much I hate waiting and not knowing. Quote
Cpt.Fred Posted October 17, 2011 Author Report Posted October 17, 2011 Thanks a lot, Tommy! I keep my fingers crossed real hard so that your yellow beauty can come home to you. It would just be wrong if someone else would get it. I hope you are doing well over there! The coil was in the trunk for the trip in case the old one would fail. Fred Quote
