rockable Posted October 4, 2011 Report Posted October 4, 2011 Does anyone make replacement door latch assemblies and the bottom door glass window channel for my '41? I think it uses the same pieces from '41 to '48. I can mod my doors and put bear claws in, if needed but I really need new bottom channels for my door glass. Thanks for any help you can give me. Bernbaum does not have them. Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted October 4, 2011 Report Posted October 4, 2011 I think restoration speciaties has the channel for generic application..you will have to probably put your lifts over to the new rail in the corect location as for the latches..these are getting hard to find..you may try either AB or Roberts for kits..maybe the guy who bought out Mitchell..check on the for sale page as we have folks parting cars..however be careful not to buy a worn out unit..these need a good inspection first hand..going to bear claws is not that bad..I did not opt for a new style rod kit as most rod mags list but chose instead to use a set out of a Dodge Dynasty on my 41 Dodge..Inside handle I retained but the outside I had shaved.. rockable Posted October 4, 2011 Author Report Posted October 4, 2011 Nice job, Tim. From what I've been told, the bear claws don't have a square receiver for the exterior handle. Therefore, you have to mount the latch lower than the handle and use a lever and pull rod to unlock the bear claw. Looks like you put yours in the same location. Did you shave the exterior handles? If now, tell me more. Thanks, Rock Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted October 4, 2011 Report Posted October 4, 2011 yes on this car the exterior handles are shaved therefore the square shaft was not an issue..this Dynasty donor lock I used also electric lock operated and the doors are remote activated and uses popper I made special for the Dodge..the kits on the market were not quite suitable for my Dodge.. as the unit I removed from the rear doors, I can lock out the inner latch from opening the door even with the window down when parked at a show/event.. you will have to know the position of the override switch or have the remote control to enter the vehicle.. rockable Posted October 9, 2011 Author Report Posted October 9, 2011 Who, besides Andy Berbaum, carries parts for my 41? I've got to find some window channels!! I've got my latch deal worked out with some bear claws and using the Oem handles. I'll post a thread when I'm done, Thanks Quote
