Since late summer is usually Fair season across the land, and they had a story on TV about Fried butter at the Texas state fair, Thought I would reflect the big winner at the just concluded NYS Fair and Exposition.

Back for the second year was bacon wrapped battered fried frozen Snickers candy bars. But the big winner was the Kahuna Burger, which was a 1/2 lb hamburger or cheese burger which used a grilled Glazed Doughnut as a bun.

This wonderful combo could max out at over 1100 calories when trimed with fixins. The next booth over was an emt and a crash cart...........

We also had a pulled pork parfait, bbq pork, garlic smashed potatoes, and a dab of sour cream in a cup.

I did not indulge in any of those offerings.

Did you get a wine slushie? My poor wife worked 6 days at the fair pouring wine and slushies for the winery she works for. They were busy.

I heard talk about the deep fried butter on a stick at the Wisconsin State Fair this year too. It seems that a popular item is the chocolate dipped bacon on a stick. (doesn't appeal to me) And they had Krispy Kream donut burgers the last couple of years too. I hadn't heard of the Kool-Aid thing, but I wouldn't be supprised to see deep fried beer at the WI fair.

Here's a list of the Food on a Stick at our fair. http://www.wistatefair.com/11_web/food/food_stick.html Maybe next year I should hunt down an Elvis. :D

The biggest attraction at the WI State Fair is the cream puffs. They make and sell several hundred thousand cream puffs every year, and they are awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!

an you ask why America's heart disease is as high and running rampant such as it is...here in the south it is deep fried salt...(so it seems) I care not to eat the so called southern style..I have bad enough habits of my own without adopting the culture of the walking heart atttack victim..
