oh it's like 20 mins from me..and it is cool....but I think he meant 218....tempted but I'm not ready to dig into another dodge/fargo....I need a nice easy chevy to calm my nerves :P

They made a 228ci, it is a 25" block. I know they were put in the long wheel base cars, my dad's 41 desoto has a 228.

Anyone on here see any parts they could use? I can maybe buy the truck for $300...I was tempted just for the grill...it's the only thing that looks good.

For 300 I'd buy it and get it running as is. Nothing like a beat up functional old truck.

Maybe....but I have enough junk around here..LOL...probably better if I can help some guys with their projects rather then it sit and rust away..

Think I will pick it up this week

Let us know if you get it and if you need to know anything. Except for some trim differences its the same as my 46 dodge 1/2 ton. There's also a huge 39-47 truck forum on yahoo I can pass the info onto.

Looks like a decent find for the price. From the wheels and full length running boards I'd say it started out life as a 1ton pickup with a 9ft bed. Those are probably the rarest of the pickups even in the dodges. If the windshield frame isn't rusted out its probably worth the purchase price right there.

I have 2 already...LOL..this is #3....not so rare in this country, thats mostly what farmers bought up here....I've found it near impossible to find a 1/2 ton model...lots bigger

good save! Can't wait to see what you do with it!

SHE'S HOME!!!

BUT WOW IS IT ROUGH....sorry buys..this one is a donor vehicle...then it's off to scrap yard heaven....the cab is toast and so are the fenders pretty much....the grill is near perfect though...so between that and a few powertrain parts etc. that's probably all I'll get off the old girl.

So if anyone need 47 parts let me know...I'll see if there's anything left

I need a gastank if there's anything left of it.

I looked today...it's full of water after someone stole the gas cap...it's rusty but not as bad as my old one...I would say it probably doesn't even leak :P ..but shipping would be horrible to you I imagine

228 very common in Canada. Basically found anywhere you would find a 230 in the US.

You see Canada's Chrysler foundry only got one engine, the 25" long block used in US DeSoto and Chrysler.

In Canada they made a small bore 3 3/8 version for Plymouth and Dodge cars and Dodge trucks, and the regular 3 7/16 version for Chrysler and DeSoto.

The 228 was made up to 1959. 3 3/8X4 1/8. They also made a 218, 3 3/8 X 4 1/16 for Plymouth.

I haven't had hardly any time to even look at this truck since I got it, but I did notice the meatal is all good on the headlight buckets, and turn signals or side lights whatever they are are in really good shape too...

If anyone needs these parts in the near future let me know I can pull them off...I would like $75.00 + shipping each for the headlights and $40 for the side lights

It's got a right front chrome grease cap too!

Got a 1955 1 ton Dodge Truck frame with 251 engine and rest of running gear, if you need any items from this, the frame is different than yours, this also had a 9 foot box.
