RobertKB Posted August 4, 2011 Report Posted August 4, 2011 Last weekend I took my '38 Chrysler to a threshing show held about 60 miles from where I live. Had a great day and I always love the old machinery. I also took a picture of my '38 Chyrsler next to the grain elevator they have on site. I have taken pictures of both my '48 Dodge and '53 Plymouth in the same location the last couple of years. Just kind of fun to get all three flatties in the same location. Anyway, the pics Quote
55 Fargo Posted August 4, 2011 Report Posted August 4, 2011 Great pics Rob, love the grain elevators. Cars look great BTW. I wished more of our members posted pics of their adventures. Keep up the great photos you and the others...............Fred Quote
Young Ed Posted August 4, 2011 Report Posted August 4, 2011 I wonder if anyone else has pictures of their cars in the same spot. This bluff is on the WI side and my car and truck is parked on the MN side. The truck pic is 2007 and the car 2009. Quote

Don Coatney Posted August 4, 2011 Report Posted August 4, 2011 No pictures of the thrashing machines? Here is a pretty good film clip except the guy talking thinks they are working with corn not wheat:D Is that a new wind generator behind the rail car? Was this elevator mule powered when it was built? Quote
1940plymouth Posted August 4, 2011 Report Posted August 4, 2011 RobertKB Thanks for the photos, they are great. I remember the thrashing machines growing up. The owner of the farm next to my Grandfather would do all the thrashing of the oats for the farmers in our area, a hot dusty job. I remember once the oats were cut, then we had to stack the seeves (sp) so they would dry, then load them on the haywagons to take to the thrashing machine to be fed to the machine, oats and straw and lots, and I do mean lots of dust. The thrashing machine was powered by an old Farmall with the a long belt While this was all going on, my Grandmother was cooking a HUGE dinner for lunch time to feed everyone. Thanks for the memories, Bob Quote

No pictures of the threshing machines as I already have plenty from other years and any others would just be repeats. Yes, it is a wind powered generator. There are literally thousands in southern Alberta as we are famous for our wind. We do not just have oil energy! The elevator had a large single cylinder stationary engine that was used to power it and they run it each year as part of the show. Quote

Yes, here are the same three cars I started this thread with in a spot near where I live that I can drive to in about 5 minutes. I take the pictures here because there is a fence post close by that I can set my camera on. I love getting pictures of my cars and putting them in the albums I have for each car. You can sure tell they were taken in different seasons based on the colour of the field and the clothes I am wearing. Quote

RobertKB Posted August 5, 2011 Author Report Posted August 5, 2011 (edited) You Caniadians wear shoes and britches in the winter? Yes, and a toque on our heads when there is snow on the ground so we don't freeze our brains and do weird things like Tennesseeans! Edited August 5, 2011 by RobertKB Quote
JoelOkie Posted August 5, 2011 Report Posted August 5, 2011 Great pictures Robert. I like all of your cars. Looks like bigfoot is alive and well, and winters over in in the Volunteer State, huh? Joel Quote
