Fernando Mendes Posted July 25, 2011 Report Posted July 25, 2011 Who had a experience in this stuff ?Yesterday I tried to withdraw the pinion flange nut and didn't get. When I turned the tool the truck moves. What is the solution(stop) for this problem? Quote
Dave72dt Posted July 25, 2011 Report Posted July 25, 2011 You need to hold the pinion flange from turning while turning the nut. A long handled pipe wrench on the flange should work. You may need to let the handle go up ahainst the frame while you put both hands on the socket and breaker bar for the nut. Quote
Merle Coggins Posted July 25, 2011 Report Posted July 25, 2011 I just use an impact gun, but if you don't have one Dave's method is the way to go. Merle Quote

Postby dr deuce » Sun Jul 24, 2011 5:42 pm Someone stand on the brakes of use an air impact wrench Re: Rear pinion flange nut. Postby Minnhawk » Mon Jul 25, 2011 3:40 am I used a 2x4 board wedged against the frame and the floor.....running diagonally with the edge against the flange. Quote
TodFitch Posted July 25, 2011 Report Posted July 25, 2011 I think I used a long bar with a hole drilled in one end: Bolt that to the flange with another bolt on the flange such that the two bolts and bar will keep the flange from turning once the bar gets to the floor. (Easy to see, hard to describe.) Now you can use a breaker bar on your socket to work on the flange nut. Quote

Dodgeb4ya Posted July 25, 2011 Report Posted July 25, 2011 Tighten all 4 rear brake shoes against the rear drums- remove/install the pinion nut to proper torque- Pymouths usually 180lbs.. Quote
Fernando Mendes Posted July 26, 2011 Author Report Posted July 26, 2011 Or put the truck front bumper in front of a strong tree,it will stop too. Quote
