I'm getting used to my new neighborhood in eastern NC. There are very interesting old barns and other buildings around here. The old barn in the attached pictures is about a mile from my house. I have been meaning to get a picture of it for awhile, but the owner usually has a horse trailer parked in front of it. Yesterday the trailer was gone, the weather was beautiful. The owner told me that the old building to the left of my car was once a store and that mules had been used to drag it about a mile to its present location, some years ago. It is nice to be able to get the old car out and about.:)

busycoupe,

Nice photos of both the buildings and the car. I wonder if they made a skid to float the building on when it was moved or if the foundation beams were strong enough to carry the load. The obvious answer would be to make a skid but I've pulled loads with mules and burros and there's nothing obvious with a job like that.

looks right at home there. have you found any other gear heads in the area? Are you settle in? Which area of eastern NC are you in, I have relation in Washigton, NC.

Greg,

I am in Chocowinity about 4 miles from Washington, NC. We go to Washington or Greenville NC for most of our shopping and other services. There is a surprising amount of old car activity here considering the small population of the area. I have already been to a couple of local shows and several local cruise nights. Once I get new tires and am confident that the car will do a 50 or 60 mile round trip I will be able to get to many more shows and cruises.

In the north the collector car activity shut down from October to April because of the cold. Here there is very little going on in July and August because of the heat.

We are settling in nicely. It is a beautiful area and so far we love it here.

Thanks for asking,

Dave

not sure how the place in Mass. was before you moved but I feel quite sure there is a distinct difference in the way things are done in your new location..I moved from up north as a teenager to the south near the ocean..talk about cultural shock..and then many years later I moved some 250 miles slightly inland wand transformed in time some 20 odd years..some things I still have major problems with that are accepted as normal here..looks like you live an a nice rural area..that is always a plus in my book..

Thanks to all for the kind words. After living in metropolitan Boston my entire life, moving to rural North Carolina has been quite a culture shock. After 4 months I can almost understand the language and I really enjoy the pace of things here. I'll post more pictures as I explore the area.

A buddy and I went out for a ride today and found an antique shop about 5 miles from us. The owner had a replica of an old country store. It makes a great backdrop for a few pictures. .. Thought you might like to see.

Looking good Dave! ~ I am jealous. Wife and I have plans to follow in your footsteps in about 8 or 9 years. Hoping there's still some rural life left down there by the time we get there.

Great pictures! I love your chrome trim rings. Most I have seen just go over the rim part, not the centers to the hub cap. Do you know if anyone makes those now or a source for them? LOVE EM'!!!

Actually, the trim rings on my car do not quite reach the hubcaps. If you look carefully you can see a bit of white painted rim between the cap and the trim ring. I have 9" hubcaps, if I had 10" hubcaps they would reach the trim ring and make it look like the car has full wheel covers. I'm always on the lookout for some decent 10" caps. The trim rings came with the car, but I do not think that they are original to a business coupe. The business coupe was the "plain Jane" of the line and came with body color rims and blackwall tires. I don't know where to get the trim rings.

Thanks Dave. I have a P-15 Club Coupe and currently have the much narrower trim rings that leave the wheel centers exposed. Not as showy as yours!!
