Todd B Posted July 2, 2011 Report Posted July 2, 2011 Any body know where I can purchase a fuel sending unit? I checked 3 tanks all are junk. Thanks, Todd B Quote
tom'sB2B Posted July 3, 2011 Report Posted July 3, 2011 I got a JC Whitney one and did the minor adjustments to make it work and put a ground wire on it. It was cheaper and works fine. There is a thread that shows how to do the swap. Quote

There is a thread that shows how to do the swap. Only if he is dealing with a 49 or later with the single wire sender. Neither his post nor his profile lists the car type. And while I remember what some poster's cars are on this forum I don't remember all. I guess since the main focus of the forum is 46-48 we should assume a two wire sender. And the modification of a modern universal sending unit won't work for that. Quote
Todd B Posted July 3, 2011 Author Report Posted July 3, 2011 Sorry, its a 53 2 1/2 ton truck. one wire under the seat like all others from 48' to 53'. Thanks for the input. I will call Tuesday AM Quote
Todd B Posted July 4, 2011 Author Report Posted July 4, 2011 I followed the clubs advice and noticed that the ones sold are 6 volt. Do I have to restrict the volts from 12 to 6?? Quote
tom'sB2B Posted July 4, 2011 Report Posted July 4, 2011 Sorry, I assumed you had a 6 volt system. Quote
