P-12 Tommy Posted June 3, 2011 Report Posted June 3, 2011 These headlamp doors are on E-bay and I'm trying to figure out what car these belong to. Are they Mopar at all? They don't look like anything I've seen. Just curious. Tom Quote

Robert Horne Posted June 3, 2011 Report Posted June 3, 2011 Maybe those are the invisable hideaway doors you do not see very often. Quote
Young Ed Posted June 3, 2011 Report Posted June 3, 2011 I'm guessing those are an aftermarket sealed beam conversion kit possibly for 39 plymouths or mopars might even fit more brands. Quote
desoto1939 Posted June 3, 2011 Report Posted June 3, 2011 Yes Young Ed is correct. This is a conversion kit to convert the old bulb style headlights of the 1939 and back and the owner could convert to the new sealed beam headlight. These are not for a 41. These might be for 39 ply dodge, chry or Desoto. I have two complete sets for my 39 Desoto 1 set has the outer rim chrome plated and the other set is not plated. That is a high price for the non chromed unit and they are missing the instruction sheet and also the bulbs. rich Hartung Desoto1939@aol.com Quote
Merle Coggins Posted June 3, 2011 Report Posted June 3, 2011 Why are they called headlamp doors? The explaination that I've heard is that back in the days when headlamps were gas powered, by accetylene or whatever, you actually opened the "door" on the front to light the lamp. The name has stuck. Quote
