plymouthasc Posted May 18, 2011 Report Posted May 18, 2011 I am working on finishing the interior of my '41 coupe. The interior swing arm sun visor mounting bracket is plated (Chrome or Nickle) on the driver side and it is painted the standard interior brown on the passenger side. Is this typical? Do you think the passenger side was added later as an accessory? Would they have come with two different finishes from the factory? Which do you think is more typical: painted or plated bracket? Thanks for your input. Mark Quote
Young Ed Posted May 18, 2011 Report Posted May 18, 2011 Mark typically the pass side was an accessory. I think post war they started including them as standard. It could be you have one from a deluxe and one cheapy one? Even if one was an accessory I would think they would match. The passenger side ones I've seen for 39-47 trucks were an accessory for sure but they matched the drivers side ones and were chrome plated. Quote
RobertKB Posted May 18, 2011 Report Posted May 18, 2011 Hi Mark, in my '41 Dodge D21 SP(Same body as Plymouth) it has two sunvisors and they are both chromed. This was the top of the line Dodge so not sure if all Dodges had two sunvisors. At the least, if your car came with two, I would have thought they would be the same. Maybe it is time to send the one out for chroming. Quote
desoto1939 Posted May 18, 2011 Report Posted May 18, 2011 I have a 39 Desoto and both of the sunvisors are chrome plated. I know i nthe literayre I see them mentioned that one was standard and and the passenger was an option but I have always seen two in all the 39 Desotos that I have seen and know about from my contacts. Send the painted one out for a flash chrome plating they do not have to be show chrome or triple plated nickel then chrome is fine for the inside. Rich Hartung Quote
1940plymouth Posted May 18, 2011 Report Posted May 18, 2011 On my '40 P-10 they are both chrome plated Quote
Andydodge Posted May 18, 2011 Report Posted May 18, 2011 Mark, on my 1941 P11 ASC it has both sides plated, on all the mopars I have seen here in Oz I have never seen them painted, however as this is Australia its possible they all came plated over here.........and as my car is originally a RHD car built in Sth Africa, who knows for sure..............lol..........I like chrome.......I'd have both plated.........andyd Quote
plymouthasc Posted May 20, 2011 Author Report Posted May 20, 2011 Thanks for all the feedback. I am going to replate both of them. Mark Quote
TodFitch Posted May 20, 2011 Report Posted May 20, 2011 Thanks for all the feedback. I am going to replate both of them.Mark Interior plating was typically nickel, not chrome. The 1933 PD (DeLuxe) was definitely plated with nickel. Passenger side was an option that my car is not equipped with so I can't say for sure on it but I'd be surprised if it was anything other than nickel plated. Quote
