ADodge42Untitled-1.jpg

Well here's a picture I paid $10 for but it was taken by a friend of mine who takes pictures of old cars. I took my brake shoes down over to Tacoma to have them reshoed and the cost wasn't bad 32 dollars for one set. I will give a report if the shoe problem that I have spoken about befor is the cause of my frount drivers side wheel locking. I sure hope it is. Jon

John was your car not a blackout to begin with? Or was the trim grey?

The Trim was a blue gray but I decided to use Kaylon spray can paint for the trim. I did this because I could not match up the blue gray and I thought it would easier to get the dark blue green anytime I needed to repaint something. And yes it is a blackout because all the trim was painted and allot of the trim on the car is just plain pressed sheet metal. In fact the rear door handles are plated but the front ones are not. Maybe the next owner will want to repaint the trim but for now I will stick with the dark green. Oh yes you could have the trim another color when manufactured also.

Here is another shot of my car probably taken a few weeks after I got it home. My oldest boy wanted me to paint it black so I repainted the hood but as you can see the car is still in pretty bad condition. Notice the chrome bumper! That was the only item on the blackouts that were left the same as the standard 42's and that was because they had the bumpers already stock piled. I just cleaned up the old chrome and painted the bumpers black to save probably another 1000 dollars.

Now this picture shows before I really got to work on doing the body work and as you can see the drivers side door is painted black and that because the kids wanted it to look like a police car. Lots of work ahead!!!

Very cool pics. Reminiscent of my '40 saga. Your car turned out great. Something to be very proud of.
