Young Ed Posted April 11, 2011 Report Posted April 11, 2011 Found and scanned in some old pictures. Sorta explains the interest in old cars. Sister and I in front of dads 1960 falcon. True little old lady car with at that time about 22K miles. However the true little old lady had smashed the car into the garage many times so the green is a repaint of the original color. Dads other 1951 plymouth convertible. Still shows up occasionally around town. Random 57 chevy at a car show. Random fords that we stopped to look at. Both of them were for sale. Quote
Young Ed Posted April 11, 2011 Author Report Posted April 11, 2011 Playing around with a door off a 51-52 4dr that we parted out. Quote
Young Ed Posted April 11, 2011 Author Report Posted April 11, 2011 (edited) And finally just some other cars he had when I was little Edited April 11, 2011 by Young Ed fixing pictures size Quote
greg g Posted April 11, 2011 Report Posted April 11, 2011 Hmm, I think I like that olds convertible the best. Although that 40 Ford would be nice also. Quote
Captain Neon Posted April 11, 2011 Report Posted April 11, 2011 My dad had a '62 Falcon the exact same colour as your dad's '60. Still has a turquoise '61. Dad still says that the green '62 was the best car he ever had. Reliable, but the body was so full of bondo and the floor boards so rusted out that he didn't feel guilty driving in Minnesota winters every day. He even had a black '66 Mustang for a long time, and a Chevy Caprice station wagon for a little while. He absolutely hated that station wagon, and has sworn off station wagons and mini vans. Quote
1940plymouth Posted April 11, 2011 Report Posted April 11, 2011 Funny that you should mention the '60 Falcon, My Father bought a new '62 Falcon in Oct of '61, had it until March of '65. The Falcon is the car that Dad had when I got my permit back in '64. I guess it was a good car, but I remember him saying that the six cylinder with three speed on the column didn't have the power to get out of its own way. Quote
Young Ed Posted April 11, 2011 Author Report Posted April 11, 2011 Funny that 83 wagon was the car my Mom was driving when I got my learners permit. It was a pretty old car by then and got sold off a couple months before I took my test in its replacement a lumina. Still I drove it with my permit for almost 2 years. Quote

I'm considering getting another falcon back in the family. Maybe a wagon. Quote
greg g Posted April 11, 2011 Report Posted April 11, 2011 You had a permit for 2 years???? I had mine for 48 hours. Quote
Young Ed Posted April 11, 2011 Author Report Posted April 11, 2011 Longer actually. Insurance was/is expensive so I didn't get my license until 18. I had my permit at 15. So probably about 2.5 years. Quote
Captain Neon Posted April 11, 2011 Report Posted April 11, 2011 I took my driver test in an '84 LeSabre that my brother now has. I don't think he ever drives it. I was glad to drive the '84 Ranger or the '46 Plymouth instead of the Buick. I've never liked the Buick, but it was an improvement over the '74 Olds that preceded it. Quote
Don Coatney Posted April 11, 2011 Report Posted April 11, 2011 Pretty much how I started out. This chick and I candled out, caked up, had a few cold ones, trashed the party, and headed for the back seat of the pictured P-15 and did.....er...well...you fill in the blanks... Quote
Don Coatney Posted April 11, 2011 Report Posted April 11, 2011 Now my wife Lisa was always a bit more refined than I was. We did not hook up until a few more years had passed. She is foremost in this photo. Quote

I had a 1962 Falcon two-door in high school - it was my daily driver. Bought it for $50, replaced the harmonic balancer, and drove it for 2 years. Six cylinder with a three on the tree. One of the best cars I've ever owned. Quote
Greenbomb Posted April 13, 2011 Report Posted April 13, 2011 They are all great pics and a bunch of cool cars. Oddly enough, i'd go for the wagon first. Quote
oldmopar Posted April 13, 2011 Report Posted April 13, 2011 Nice photos I also had a 60 or 61 falcon in high school was always breaking down I spent more time under it then in it. The wagon looks close to a 77 Impala I picked up last year got it from the original owners grandson runs great. Quote
